MESSIAH COLLEGE HOW YOU GET YOUR PACKAGES

DID YOU KNOW? Last year the Campus Post Office received and processed over 50,000 packages.

How you receive packages here 1. Small packages, that will fit, are put directly into your mailbox. Medium size packages are placed into a grey or orange package locker in the hallway outside the Campus Post Office, and the locker key is placed into your mailbox. This gives you 24-hour access to pick up this item. Large packages that will not fit into a locker, prescriptions and clearly marked perishable items, such as flowers, fruit, etc. are held in the Campus Post Office for you to pickup. You can only pick these up during our window hours, Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. unless you make other arrangements. Perishable items not picked up by end of the business day, are taken to Dispatch so you have 24 hour access to these. Please make every effort to pick up your packages as quickly as possible. 4. Any item that requires a signature, such as Express Mail, Certified Mail, or Insured Mail, is considered accountable and is also held in the Campus Post Office. You can only pick this type of mail/package up during our window hours, Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. 5. FedEx, UPS, and DHL or any other common carrier packages arrive at Messiah College at our Central Receiving Area. These are normally received in the mid-morning. Packages are sorted, loaded into a truck, and all but the largest packages are delivered to the Campus Post Office in the late morning for distribution.

How you receive packages here All packages are now scanned by the Messiah College Post Office using the package tracking barcode. If a package does not have a barcode tracking number, a generic barcode number is assigned. When a package is received and scanned, you will receive an e-mail notification from the Campus Post Office. It is imperative that you read the entire e-mail. This is to let you know we have received a package for you, the type of package and when/where it will be available for you to pick up. Small and medium size packages placed either into your mail box or a locker will be available by 4:00 pm the afternoon on the day we received your package, barring any unforeseen circumstances. Large packages, perishable, accountable and prescription items stored inside the Post Office are available immediately upon receipt of the email notification, provided the service window is open. Our normal business hours again are M-F, 9:30 – 4:00. Please note that the Campus Post Office and Central Receiving are not open on weekends. All packages that are due to be delivered on Saturday are held by the U.S. Postal Service or any common carrier courier and delivered on the next available business day. Any package that is received by Messiah College from UPS, FedEx, or DHL, is signed for by our Central Receiving Department on behalf of the student. You do not need to be available to sign for items at the time of it being received at Messiah College. Messiah College is not responsible for any loss or damage for any perishable or prescription package not picked up in a timely manner.

If you wish to stop at the office, our academic year business hours are 9:30am to 4:00pm, Monday through Friday. After Memorial Day until the second Monday of August our summer hours are 9:30 to 3:00, Monday through Friday, closing for lunch from 12:30 to 1:00. Thank you. SAMPLE OF E-MAIL FOR A PERISHABLE PACKAGE You have received a package with tracking number: _____________________________ This email is to let you know that this is a PERISHABLE package and we are holding it for you in the Campus Post Office in the Eisenhower Campus Center. It is NOW available for you to come and pick up. Business hours are 9:30 am to 4:00 pm M-F during the academic year. From May 31st through August 5th our hours are 9:30 to 3:00 M-F and closed for lunch from 12:30 to 1:00. Please bring your student ID with you to claim your package. If you are unable to come to the window during these hours, please contact us at 717-691-6026 or postoffice@messiah.edu. We will try to accommodate you as best as possible. Please be aware if this package requires refrigeration, we have no way to refrigerate if for you and Messiah College will not be responsible for any spoilage, loss or damage that may occur. Thank you. Campus Post Office SAMPLE OF E-MAIL FOR A LARGE PACKAGE You have received a package with tracking number: ________________________ This email is to let you know that this package is TOO LARGE to fit into your mail box or a locker and we are holding it for you in the Campus Post Office in the Eisenhower Campus Center. It is NOW available for you to pick up. Our academic year business hours are 9:30am to 4:00pm, Monday through Friday. After Memorial Day until the second Monday of August our summer hours are 9:30 to 3:00, Monday through Friday, closing for lunch from 12:30 to 1:00. It is NOW available for you to pick up. Our academic year business hours are 9:30am to 4:00pm, Monday through Friday. After Memorial Day until the second Monday of August our summer hours are 9:30 to 3:00, Monday through Friday, closing for lunch from 12:30 to 1:00. Please bring your student ID with you to claim your package. Business hours are 9:30 am to 4:00 pm M-F during the academic year., After Memorial Day until the second Monday of August our hours are 9:30 to 3:00 M-F and closed for lunch from 12:30 to 1:00. How you receive packages here Package keys are used to open lockers containing smaller and medium sized packages. They open either grey or orange package lockers. Once used, the key stays locked in the locker for us to use again.

How you receive packages here This is an example of a locker key for a grey package locker. Orange lockers have similar tags which are orange with keys attached.

IF YOU RECEIVE AN E-MAIL FROM THE COLLEGE POST OFFICE THAT A PACKAGE OR KEY WAS PLACED INTO YOUR MAIL BOX BUT YOU DO NOT FIND THE PACKAGE OR KEY, PLEASE NOTIFY US AT THE POST OFFICE SERVICE WINDOW IMMEDIATELY. WE WILL TAKE YOUR INFORMATION AND START THE PROCESS FOR TRACKING DOWN YOUR PACKAGE. MISTAKES CAN HAPPEN, BUT WE DO OUR BEST TO AVOID THEM. PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK THE NAME ON ALL PACKAGES AND KEY TAGS IN YOUR MAIL BOX TO INSURE THAT IT IS YOURS. DO NOT JUST ASSUME IT BELONGS TO YOU.
