Accommodations Overview Orientation 2017 Academic Success Center and & Disability Resources Residential Learning & University Housing Gourmet Dining LLC

The Academic Success Center The Academic Success Center is a combination of several offices geared towards proving students access a variety of resources. Located within the ASC are: Disability Resources Veterans Affairs Testing Center Tutoring Center

Demographics At present over 1,275 students with disabilities are registered with Disability Resources Two third of this total have Hidden Disabilities Examples of Hidden Disabilities: ADHD Depression Autism Spectrum Learning Disability

Disability Resources The Office of Disability Resources provides assistance to students with disabilities in obtaining specific accommodations including: Housing Food Allergies & Meal Plan Accommodations Academic and Classroom Temporary Accommodations

Registration Forms ADHD Verification Form Disability Registration Form Disability Consent and Release Form Meal Plan Accommodation Form Disability Documentation Guidelines

Housing Accommodations Provide disability or medical documentation documentation Schedule a meeting or conference call with a representative from Disability Resources Students requesting housing accommodation are required to fill out a Disability Resources Registration Form

Housing Accommodations Apply for Housing Contact Office of Disability Resources to File Housing Accommodation Approved Accommodation sent to University Housing for student to be Assigned University Housing works to Assign Student based on approved accommodation Assignment sent to student via email with assignment in early August

Applying for Housing Log into www.rowan.edu/selfservice Click on the student tab Click on MyHousing Click on the “Housing Applications & Forms” tab at the top of the screen Select the correct application (for the correct term) from the dropdown menu Complete the application For new students you will be asked to pay a $200 non-refundable housing deposit prior to the completion of your application. ** Note: Students who successfully complete their application will receive an email confirmation to their Rowan email address.** Roommate Matching Deadline: Tuesday July, 25, 2017 at 11:59pm **(Please note Roommate Matches are NOT Guaranteed)**

Learning/Themed Communities and Housing Accommodation What is a learning/themed community? What if I am apart of a learning/themed community and have a housing accommodation?

Triple Option University Housing will offer a triple option this year in our Traditional Residence Halls. Triple Volunteers will receive the following incentives: Pay a reduced fee per semester ($500 less than a double per semester) $500 off meal plan for the Fall semester Free Summer Housing Between Freshmen and Sophomore Year Free Mircofridge $50 Rowan Bucks for Fall semester

Food Allergy and Meal Plan Accommodations Students are required to fill out a Disability Resources Registration Form 2. Have your doctor complete the Meal Plan Accommodation Form 3. Academic & Classroom Accommodations A variety of accommodations are available based on the student’s disability including, but not limited to: Extended time on tests and quizzes Audio-record lectures & Note taking assistance in class Alternative ‘reduced distraction’ testing location Scribes or readers during tests or quizzes Use of assistive technology in class and for tests Receiving class materials in an alternative format Alternate textbook formats

Academic Coaching Program The Academic Success Center understands transitioning into the university can be challenging To sign up for Academic Coaching: Fill out a registration and availability form at the Academic Success Center You will be assigned a coach who will contact you to confirm the time and location of your weekly appointment
