Concrete Lesson 2: Site Preparation Ag Structures Mr. Dieckhoff

Soil Work………It’s Not for Everyone…… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lAVXYXmeOmI

Preparing a Subgrade Drainage Removal of Topsoil Removal of organic matter Removal of rocks and stones

Preparing a Subgrade Subgrade slope – 3% Packing or compacting Sand or aggregate fill Install Vapor Barrier Dampening the site

Vapor Barrier Plastic-coated paper and polyethylene film have low perm ratings and are often used as vapor barriers.

Footing Large supporting blocks between the foundation and the soil Used to support the weight of the structure Must be placed below the frost line Place on aggregate base to prevent movement over time

Laying Out the Pour Lab In Groups of 3 people….. Create 4 stakes you can hammer into the ground using a 2x4 (see first video) Stake 2x4s into the ground so you have a 3x3 form without using screws or nails Check to make sure the perimeter of the form is square. Also make sure the diagonals are equal. Check to make sure the top of the forms are level.

Reinforcing Concrete Rebar Wire Mesh steel rod containing lugs (protrusions) that allow it to interlock with concrete. Wire Mesh
