About Safe4RAIL

Safe4RAIL Partner overview 11 Partners

Shift2Rail Motivation: Advanced Integrated Modular Architecture TD for TCMS

Shift2Rail Motivation Overview: Advanced Integrated Modular Architecture for TCMS Integrate different critical (SIL3/4) and non-critical functions in one system, enable embedded resource sharing among diff. functions Minimize (re)commisioning and (re)certification effort for upgrades, modifications, and extensions

Safe4RAIL Objectives (1/2) Obj. 1: Configurable Mixed Criticality Networking “Drive-By-Data” Concept for next generation of European TCMS supporting the integration of SIL4 functions. Obj. 2: Mixed Criticality Application Framework Concept for modular integration of distributed TCMS applications side-by-side, supporting criticality levels up to SIL4. Obj. 3: Simulation and Testing Environment for distributed embedded railway systems.

Safe4RAIL Objectives (2/2) Obj. 4: Architecture and Safety Concept for Brake-by-Wire (SIL4) utilizing the Networking- and Application Framework Concepts. Obj. 5: Modular Certification capability enabled by the distributed embedded railway platform and systems. Obj. 6: Contribution to standards

Lessons Learnt

General H2020 submission ‚rules‘ Understand what is asked from you Call text EU / JU and NCPs Consortium Get your consortium ready, get to know them, write! Pay attention to what is asked for in the call, think about complementarities, keep the consortium lean Clear responsibilities within the group Distribution of efforts on the various sections Regular status meetings Support it with the technical infrastructure Safe4RAIL SVN had 628 commits until the deadline distributed across the 11 partners

General H2020 submission ‚rules‘ Read the evaluation guidance („Annex H“) and follow it closely Section 1: Excellence Section 2: Impact Section 3: Implementation (dont forget Section 4 and Section 5 though) Be precise, do not leave information for the evaluators to interpret Put yourself in the evaluator‘s shoes

Evaluation Criteria H2020 (1/3) Section 1: Excellence Clarity and pertinence of the objectives Soundness of the concept, and credibility of the proposed methodology Extent that the proposed work is beyond the state of the art, and demonstrates innovation potential (e.g. ground-breaking objectives, novel concepts and approaches, new products, services or business and organisational models) Appropriate consideration of interdisciplinary approaches and, where relevant, use of stakeholder knowledge
