Warm up: extra credit assignment NATIONAL GALLERY PHOTO OP 1. OPEN PHOTO-OP (http://www.nga.gov/kids/zone/photoop.htm) EXPLORE the DIRECTIONS for using SNAPPER, EDITOR and SAVE under the virtual camera. 2. MOVE THE CURSER AROUND ON THE CAMERA WINDOW SCREEN AND TAKE AT LEAST 5 PICTURES BY SNAPPING THE RED BUTTON ON THE VIRTUAL CAMERA. PICK YOUR FAVORITE PHOTO PHOTO ON THE LEFT SIDE AND CLICK ON IT. 3. EDIT your photo by using the EDITING menus.  EXPERIMENT with zoom, crop, mirror, collage, color.  See what the buttons do! 4. (Directions for saving on Photo-Op site) SAVE: It's a good idea to save your work often so you can backtrack if you change your mind. You can save 18 pictures and mix them together to create interesting screens and collages. Saved pictures will remain active and "editable" as long as your Web browser and the window with the PHOTO OP program remain open. If you refresh the Web page, the interactive will reload and all work in progress will disappear. To take more pictures, return to the SNAPPER activity by clicking the camera icon at the top left. To share your designs electronically or to save them to your computer, create a PDF or take a screen shot. Here's how.   RECOMMENDED BROWSERS: If you have a Macintosh, use Safari or Firefox 2. On a Windows-based computer, use Internet Explorer or Firefox 2.  Firefox 3 is still in development, and you may experience display problems with Shockwave and Flash content. If parts of the interactive "disappear"  from view, or if portions of the Firefox window turn black, just resize the browser window 5. POST ONE PHOTO The extra credit forum  with name, date, and title "PHOTO OP VIRTUAL ASSIGNMENT" .  Along with the posted photo tell us what you did to manipulate the photo.  Did you use the color button?  Did you zoom in on a section and use the emboss selection?  Did it change the look of the original photo?

USE PHOTO EDITING SOFTWARE TO MANIPULATE YOUR 3 FAVORITE PHOTOS FROM THE SERIES AND POST THEM ON THE BLOG BELOW.  TELL WHAT YOU WERE TRYING SHOW AND HOW YOU ACHIEVED THIS.  I WOULD LIKE FOR YOU TO PICK YOUR BEST ONE, AND EMAIL IT TO ME.

Create it…Dan Eldon Project part 2 DO THE FOLLOWING ASSIGNMENT AFTER COMPLETING "DAN ELDON PROJECT - PART ONE" AND WATCHING THE DAN ELDON VIDEO, VIEWING HIS JOURNALS AND THINKING ABOUT THE QUESTIONS POSED IN THE JOURNAL SITE FOLDER. 1. CHOOSE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE PHOTOS FROM THE PREVIOUS ASSIGNMENT (DAN ELDON PROJECT - PART 1) 2. CREATE A PAGE IN YOUR SKETCHBOOK THAT MUST CONTAIN ALL OR PARTS OF TWO PHOTOS (CAN BE MORE) FROM YOUR SERIES.  YOU MUST USE A PHOTO EDITING PROGRAM TO MANIPULATE AT LEAST ONE OF THOSE PHOTOS. 3. YOU MUST ALSO USE AT LEAST THREE OTHER ART MEDIUMS TO COMPLETE THE PROCESS.  YOU CAN USE PAINT, COLOR PENCIL, MARKER, GEL PENS, PENCIL, TAPE, STICKERS, ETC. 4. YOU MUST INCLUDE SOME SORT OF TEXT (WRITING) IN YOUR DESIGN. 5. THE FINISHED PAGE IN YOUR SKETCHBOOK MUST REFLECT THE MOOD OF THIS SPECIAL SUBJECT. 6. To start use full name and click on the hand. You gain or lose points depending upon your answers to the questions posed. You can accumulate up to 1000 points, 500 per character. Imagine it Watch the Barnstormers video and complete the following assignment: 1. Take at least 5 digital photos of something that is changing: for example – someone doing a cartwheel, a picture you draw, dinner on your plate, a ball going into a basket, a puddle of water…USE YOUR IMAGINATION! 2. Put the photos in order and email them to me. Tell me what the change you are showing is. Tell me why you chose this subject and how each change “photo” will be important in your barnstormer movie. 3. Upload the photos in a (modern-day flipbook) animation program like: Animoto (see below), PowerPoint, Photojam, and set to music. Post to your extra credit forum. Transitions should be rapid to show movement. Send me an email to let me know you did this. ANIMOTO TIPS: You may use Animoto or another one. Sign up for a free account and follow directions to EMBED in your blog. Choose EMBED when you make the video. Then, copy and paste the html code. Go to where you post to the blog and press < > option in the menu. Next paste into blog and unclick < >. Your Animoto movie should appear. Email me if you have questions.
