OPERATION FIBRE : COMMENTS DEPLOYED IN ACCORDANCE WITH UNITED NATIONS SECURITY COUNCIL RESOLUTION 1545 DATED 21 MAY 2004 MANDATED TASKS : to ensure the respect of ceasefire agreements, through monitoring investigate any violations of ceasefire agreements to promote the re-establishment of confidence between the Burundian Armed Forces (BAF) monitor and provide security at pre- disarmament assembly sites collect and secure weapons and military materiel for possible disposal contribute to the dismantling of militias to carry out the disarmament and demobilization portions of the national programme of disarmament, demobilization and reintegration (DDR) of combatants
