Overview Estate Owned by: Fausto, Angela, and Maria Vittoria Maculan Wine Region: Veneto Winemaker: Fausto Maculan & Maria Vittoria Maculan Total Acreage Under Vine: 37 Estate Founded: 1947 Winery Production: 650,000 Bottles

Location Located in Breganze, an enchanting village at the foot of the Alps in Italy’s Veneto region. The location of Breganze at the southernmost foothills of the Dolomite Alps provides perfect southern exposures along with protection from central European winters. The high plains of Asiago offer natural protection and create an extremely mild climate that favors the cultivation of vines and olives.

Location The Maculan Farm consists of 37 acres of estate owned vineyards in the commune of Breganze. 60 additional acres are leased within the DOC zone of Breganze. Maculan also works with other growers, managing production of up to 125 acres in the DOC zone of Breganze.

History For three generations the Maculan family has been selecting and vinifying the best grapes in Breganze Fausto Maculan became active in his family’s winery at a very young age, and took over operations in the 1970s Designed by Fausto Maculan himself, the new winery is one of the most stunning small wineries in Italy, an amazing mixture of ingenuity and style.

History Long-held family traditions are respected: from using specially selected vineyards and the careful selection of the bunches of grapes, to aging in new, small oak barrels and conserving the grapes on racks for the production of Torcolato. Thanks to his commitment, Fausto Maculan has received numerous accolades from the world’s most esteemed wine critics, particularly for the outstanding Acininobili, Dindarello and Torcolato, always at the forefront of any discussion of dessert wines.

History In 2007, Angela and Maria Vittoria, Fausto’s daughters, officially joined Maculan’s operations; Angela travels the world to represent the winery and Maria Vittoria graduated from the Oenological and Viticulture Science University of Padua to follow in her father’s winemaking footsteps

Philosophy In Fausto’s words, “a small winery making great wines”. Excellence is the code that the Maculan family lives by, cultivating Bordeaux varietals that Maculan turns into delicious and elegant wines: crisp refreshing whites, well-structured reds and, of course, legendary dessert wines.

Owner Fausto Maculan At the age of 13, during school vacations, he worked in the winery and began to visit customers Graduated from the school of enology in Conegliano, where he graduated with honors. He then completed an obligatory year of military service as an official of the Alpine Corps, a division of the Italian Army known to boast a good rapport with wine. Since 1985, he has been the Course Director for the Association of Italian Sommeliers (AIS). Fausto has been able to achieve great recognition as an iconic dessert wine producer as well as a producer of incredible reds.

Owner Angela Maculan Has had a passion for wine since she was a small girl. Used to go to the cellar and watch her father in all stages of the vinification process.  When she was 12, her parents gave her permission to handle the pruning shears and she began to take part in the harvests and went to the vineyards to pick grapes. Has always worked at the winery, performing the duties that have been given to her. When she was only 19, she took her first business trip with her father to the United States and since then has worked with the export side of the winery, traveling throughout the world, proud to spread the word about her family’s wines. .

Key Selling Points Leading producer in the central hills of the Veneto, where Merlot and Cabernet are the most widely planted red grapes Maculan’s style is inspired to Bordeaux Fratta has been critically acclaimed The Maculan winery’s great strengths are in diversity – working masterfully with white wines, red wines and especially sweet wines A family operation, where father works side by side with daughters in all aspects of winery operations and sales

Building The Brand Consistently lauded for their work with the Bordeaux red varieties and also with the remarkable sweet wines Known iconic dessert wine producer Brentino, position within the Italian category and as a Bordeaux blend alternative Dindarello Moscato offers a key category driven sweet wine to be offered primarily on premise Pino Toi is an alternative to Pinot Grigio

Acininobili IGT Veneto 100% Vespaiola Acininobili – or “noble berries” in Italian - is the result of painstaking manual selection of dried Vespaiola grapes affected by botrytis cinerea (a noble rot that concentrates sugars in the berries). Intense and spicy bouquet with hints of acacia honey, dried fruit, raisins, and flint. On the palate, it is full, elegant, and sumptuous with optimal body, good structure, and a persistent finish. Delicious with dessert and pastries.

Brentino Veneto IGT 55% Merlot and 45% Cabernet Sauvignon Brenta is the main river near Breganze, and is also the name for a basket (backpack style) that was traditionally used to deliver wine. Aromas of blackberries and dark cherries, along with hints of cedar and forest. On the palate, the wine is dry, full-bodied and harmoniously balance Recommended with roasted and grilled meats, as well as hearty winter stews or pastas.

Costadolio Rosato Breganze DOC 100% Merlot A very fruity bouquet with notes of peach, plums, and nice hints of apple. Medium-bodied with crisp acidity, this refreshing rosé is very delicate but intense. Serve chilled, but not too cold, alongside pasta with shellfish, or grilled white meat.

Crosara Breganze DOC 100% Merlot Named after a crossroad (crosara in the local dialect) that separates the two vineyards from which the Merlot grapes are sourced. Aromas of red and black berries, excellent spices, and hints of cocoa and coffee. In the mouth, the taste of ripe berries is accompanied by a sweet and well-balanced tannin structure. This wine pairs well with rich pasta dishes, barbecued meats, game, and medium-aged cheese.

Dindarello Moscato Veneto IGT Translates as "orange blossom." After the harvest, the grapes are dried for one month in temperature- and moisture-controlled rooms to concentrate the sugars and flavors Aromas of citrus, honey and orange blossom. Sweet, yet balanced on the palate, with bracing acidity and a rich roundness that persists well into the finish. Try it with fruit pies, pastries and rich creamy cakes.

Fratta Veneto IGT 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Merlot Aromas of blackberries, coffee, tobacco, mesquite and mocha. With a balanced expression of fine-grained tannins and full-bodied elegance, this truly opulent red unfolds into a long, spicy finish. Fratta pairs beautifully with rich steak or beef dishes, game roasted on a spit, and aged granular cheeses.

Madoro Veneto IGT 80% Marzemina and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon Madoro, which combines the first letters of MAculan, DOlce (sweet) and ROsso (red). Aromas of raspberries, plum and sweet spice. Madoro is sweet and full-bodied, with a long, evolving finish that keeps the senses captivated. This wine pairs excellently with chocolate soufflé or dessert cheese platters.

Palazzotto Cabernet Sauvignon Breganze DOC The name of the wine comes from the name of the area, or località, where the grapes are sourced for this wine. Notes of woodland berries, anise, black pepper and a touch of 'garrigue' or Mediterranean herbs. Pair with braised or grilled red meats or rich winter stews.

Pino & Toi Veneto IGT 60% Tai, 25% Pinot Bianco and 15% Pinot Grigio The name references the varieties from which it is made. Perfumed with floral and fruity aromas. Dry and zesty on the palate, this wine has a well-rounded structure and flavorful, long finish. Recommended as an aperitif, or with antipasti, pasta with shellfish, vegetable risotto and grilled white meats.

Sauvignon Veneto IGT 100% Sauvignon Blanc Aromas of tropical fruit, saffron and peach. Finely balanced and dry on the palate with flavors of tropical and citrus fruit and hints of mint. Pairs well with buttery pastas and grilled poultry.

Torcolato Breganze DOC 100% Vespaiola The grapes are dried in a traditional method that involves winding the bunches around twine and hanging them from the ceiling. Rich, spicy aromas of baked pears with hints of honey, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and hazelnuts. On the palate, it is sweet without being cloying, and full-bodied with vibrant acidity. Best served on its own, but it is also excellent with pastries, paté or foie gras, or strongly-flavored blue cheese.
