Surface Area and Volume for Pyramids and Cones (11.3/11.5)

One of your members will answer question 1, the next question 2, etc One of your members will answer question 1, the next question 2, etc. Answer 5 and 6 as a group What is the base of the pyramid? What are the faces of a pyramid? What is surface area? What is volume? How do we find it in general? What is the surface area for the pyramid? What is the volume for this pyramid?

One of your members will answer question 1, the next question 2, etc One of your members will answer question 1, the next question 2, etc. Answer 5 and 6 as a group If you unfold a cone and lay it flat, what shapes are you left with? What is the formula for the area of a triangle? What is the length of the base of this triangle? What is the height of the triangle? What is the surface area of the whole cone? How does the volume of a cone relate to the volume of a cylinder?

The altitude of a pyramid is the distance from the vertex to the base; this is also the height. We use this to find the volume The slant height of a pyramid is the height of each triangular face. We use this to find the Surface Area. In a regular pyramid all the lateral faces are congruent isosceles triangles

A cone is like a pyramid, but the base is a circle, and so the sides are a deformed cylinder. The altitude of a cone is the length from the vertex to the base. This is also the height. We use this to find the volume. The slant height is the distance from the vertex to any point on the cone’s base. We use this to find the surface area.
