Health Care Management: Issues, Challenges and Job Requirements Milan Gurung

Abstract The Health Care Services is fast moving, unpredictable and ever changing. The ever increasing environmental turbulence, managerial uncertainty, financial instability, organizational volatility, ambivalent public policy, escalating costs, fervent competition, insistent regulation, ever changing technologies, lofty public expectations and persistent health care labor shortages are the challenges frequently faced by management.

Abstract This presentation is to generate the academic discussion and secure consensus opinion regarding the skills, knowledge and abilities which would be needed for successful health care executive performance in the changed environment.

Conclusion To overcome the challenges faced by management, organizer of academic programs in health care management must maintain a strong market orientation and internal assessment to ensure the continued relevance of their curricula to the job skill, knowledge and ability requirements. Policy makers and provider of cares are urged to think cautiously whether the executives appointed by them, posses the job skill, knowledge and ability requirements which are needed to cope effectively with the changing managerial and leadership demands of emerging health care organizations of present and future.
