Highly Addictive Found in the leaves of the tobacco plant Found in cigarettes, pipes, & smokeless tobacco Quickly absorbed into bloodstream when smoked Increases heart rate & blood pressure Makes you breathe faster **Produces all the good feelings you experience that make you want to come back for more.

Nicotine Each cigarette shortens your life span 7 to 11 minutes. Every year the tobacco company spends $9.7 billion on advertising. 70% of teen smokers wish that they never started smoking. Teen smokers get sick more often than teen non-smokers. Teen smokers are more likely to use alcohol & other drugs.

Nicotine 1,200 Americans die from a smoking-related illness every day. Smoking-related illnesses claim more American lives than alcohol, car accidents, suicide, AIDS, homicide, & illegal drugs combined. Smoking is the #1 cause to PREVENTABLE DEATH in the United States.
