Technology In Action New equipment installed this year 636 computers, 40 laptops deployed 186 virtual desktops 127 projectors, 85 document cameras 114 Mobi’s (Interactive Tablets) New District Website Full deployment of computer management system (Kaseya) Virtual field trips Collaboration groups (office managers, tech reps, and newly formed technology advisory committee) -636 (504 last year) traditional computers deployed, 186 (200 last year) virtual desktops deployed, and 40 (76 last year) laptops -187 new projectors, 155 document cameras, 68 Mobi tablets -3,400 computers in district now centrally managed for technical support, software updates, and management -Dip in Tech requests for 2012-13 due to increased phone/remote support which is not tracked here. Also being more pro-active with remote support activities before they become a problem

Technology Infrastructure Standards Standard One: Classroom Connectivity Standard Two: Teacher Access to Student Information System Standard Three: Access to Student Performance Data Standard Four: Data Projectors Standard Five: On Line Grades and Attendance Standard Six: Telephones on the Network w/ Integrated Voice & E-mail Standard Seven: Student Connectivity Standard Eight: Interactive Display Technology Standard Nine: Parental Access Standard Ten: Public Address and Bell Systems on the Network Standard Eleven: Video Security on the Network Standard Twelve: Wireless Connectivity >Standards in light text have been completed >Progress has been made in all standard areas

CUSD Technology Infrastructure Standards Progress: One through Six >To our knowledge all classrooms have a projector available for use. One challenge over the next few years will be replacement of failing, outdated projectors.

CUSD Technology Infrastructure Standards Progress: Seven through Twelve >Interactive technology includes wireless tablets, doc cams, and clickers. >Parent access of IC portal has made a small improvement, this is an area we will help emphasis at the school site level in the coming year (a mobile app is available which makes for ease of access) >Increased wireless connectivity will depend our E-rate funding *Standard Nine: This standard is being tracked by actual parent account access. *Standard Eleven: This standard was modified to focus on secondary sites only.

How are we preparing for Common Core? Ready? Set. Go! Technology support of SBAC testing Infrastructure Upgrades 2012-13 Internet bandwidth increase 100mb to 200mb a 50% upgrade in capacity Recommended goal by 2014-15 is to have 100mb for every 1,000 students (per SETDA, State Educational Technology Directors Association) Piloting instructional tools for the classroom (online, tablets) Work to continue for 2013-14 and beyond…. Tech block grant for instructional hardware upgrades Re-write of Education Technology 3-year plan Infrastructure upgrades (when funded by E-rate) Instructional technology upgrades based on 5-year replacement plan >SBAC testing support includes preparing equipment in computer labs for testing (secure browser install, software updates, etc.) and frequent monitoring/maintenance >Tech block grant to provide up to $20/student for each school site (including WCS) for instructional technology equipment >Pilots: Instructional tools such as online collaboration, “cloud” resources (GAFE), web 2.0, tablet devices, etc. >Technology 5-year upgrade plan to include recommendations to principals for replacement of key technology equipment in classrooms (computers, projectors, interactive technology)

CUSD Technology Assessment >Classroom: Includes instructional technology use in classrooms by teachers and students. Assess how much time is spent using technology tools and at what level. >Access: Includes teachers and students access to technology resources at school and home. Assess availability of technology. >Skills: Includes fundamental technical skills of teachers and students to perform basic tasks, navigate online resources, and use devices >Environment: Includes factors that may prevent progress of technology use in the instructional programs. These factors include policies, practices and procedures.
