Zone Goals Thorough and wholesome chapter support “To increase the number of culturally responsible black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community.” Thorough and wholesome chapter support Providing chapters with tools and practices for successful programming and retention One-on-one interaction with every chapter for personalized help and advising Visits to chapters in order to monitor progress and improvement (3-4 per semester) Affording available opportunities to the entire membership Have at least one NEZ member apply to each and every NSBE scholarship available. Communicate with chapter leaders to ensure all members are applying for summer and full-time opportunities

Successful and informative New England Zone Conference At least 100 attendees at NEZ Conference Registration available by mid to late September Affordable pricing Workshops focused on topics that the General Body are interested in Calls with chapter leaders to find hot topics Research to find presenters well-versed in such topics

Inspiring and cultivating the future leaders of NSBE Filling major NEZ Board Positions (Vice Chair, Treasurer, Secretary) Reaching out to chapters in search of qualified and dedicated members Have major position filled by September Leadership training provided throughout the year Have at least 10 members of NEZ apply for the 2017- 2018 REB Allow members to participate in leading the Zone through committees

Transparency within the NEZ as well as R1 Allow members to be aware of what is happening on all levels Make all pertinent information available to the membership Personally provide information to membership to increase transparency Showcase chapters and members that are excelling and embodying the NSBE mission Chapter and member shout outs via social media Frequent chapter check-ins and rewards for chapter of the month and member of the month. 10K BY 2025!!!

Chapter Monthly Reports (CMRs) Helps the ZEB further understand what challenges you face and how we can assist you CMRs can be used to request for chapter visits from the ZEB Used to determine Member of the Month/Chapter of the Month/Chapter of the Year Due Date for CMRs: The 5th of every month (Example- September CMR is due October 5th; October CMR is due November 5th)

Fall Zone Conference Date: TBD Location: University of Rhode Island Registration will open by September 15th By opening registration this early, chapters can use this as a tool to recruit members Flyers should be distributed around this time as well Date: TBD Location: University of Rhode Island

Fall Regional Conference Date: Thursday November 17th - Sunday November 20th Location: Sheraton at the Falls, Niagara Falls NY Theme: “Engineering Your Foundation”

43rd annual National Convention Date: Wednesday March 29th- Sunday April 1st Location: Kansas City Convention Center, Kansas City, MO Theme: “Engineering Your Foundation”
