Creation of Israel DBQ Why was the land of Israel important to the religion of Judaism? The Jews believe that the land of Israel was promised to them by their god in exchange for living according to god’s laws What does it mean to be a minority? How are minorities usually treated by the majority? Minorities are a small group of people. Minorities are usually mistreated by the majority What happened to the Arab Palestinians when Zionists immigrated to Palestine in the 1900’s? Palestinians feared European colonization. Palestinians for forced off their land and into large cities which became overcrowded and impoverished.
Creation of Israel DBQ What role did the United Nations (U.N.) play in Palestine's history? The British turned over control of Palestine to the U.N. in 1947. The U.N. split Palestine into a Jewish and Arab state. This was unpopular with the Palestinians. How did Zionists react to U.N. partition plan? Why? How did Palestinians react? Why? Zionists accepted this plan as a step towards reclaiming their homeland. Palestinians were strongly against this plan as it took their homes away. What is the current relationship between Israelis and Palestinians like today? The conflict continues to this day. The U.N. continues to try to get the two sides to come to a peace agreement.

Geo-Genie goes to Africa! Interpol, the international crime fighting organization needs your help! The Geo Genie is on the hunt for the mysterious lost treasure of Timbuktu. He wants to steal the treasure and keep it all to himself. Your task is to write clues to following the Geo Genie across the Africa continent. Your journey must start in the country of South Africa and end in the country of Mali (where Timbuktu is located) Use the maps in your atlas and your maps from class to help you write clues to follow the Geo Genie.
Geo-Genie goes to Africa! Once you have written out the clues, create a key with all the answers for your clues. You need to a minimum of 15 clues. 10 of the 15 clues must come from your 18 Features you need to know for your map quiz. The remaining 5 should be new features or places that you discover in the atlas. Please write out your clues on your own notebook paper. Your answer key should be written on a separate sheet.
