BOOK OF LIFE You are to create a book of your past and present. You will also be asked to speculate on your future. This book will include: A biography(body of book) Table of contents Family tree Timeline of events Pictures, photos, and/or illustrations And more

Basic & Format Instructions Book of Life is DUE Monday. March 20th Worth 25% of your grade. Books should be typed, double spaced, in Times New Roman, font size 12-14, (Exception: chapter headings) Pages of the book must be bound & covered Pages may not be stapled. Books must be titled & covers decorated.

Additional Requirements If you complete all minimum assigned work on this project you will earn an 80 - 84%. To get a higher grade you must do more Add to assigned work; extras effort/work; creativity WOW factor- how your book stands out from others. REMEMBER MORE IS GOOD! Less is bad.

TIMELINE You need to make a timeline of your life with at least 10 significant events on it. Then pick 5 of the 10 events from the timeline and explain them and their significance on your life. 1 Paragraph each. Include at least two pictures, photos, or illustrations

TABLE OF CONTENTS Every section of the book should be assigned page number or numbers. All section page number or numbers must be included in the table of contents Every page in the book should be assigned a number

FAMILY TREE or CHART Your family tree or chart needs to include: 1. you; 2. your parents or guardians; 3. siblings; 4. grandparents both maternal & paternal; 5. great grandparents on both sides (if possible). Each family member entry should include: Date of birth & place of birth (city, state) Templates or models of trees or charts are available from Mrs. Harman. Or create your own tree or chart.

Create a crest that includes: Values Crest Values Crest NO FAMILY CRESTS! Create a crest that includes: Values you hold Beliefs you live by Characteristics you hope others see in you. use symbols, icons, color, etc. (one word per value, belief, or characteristic)

(Remember more is good! Less is bad.) CHAPTERS/SECTIONS Chapter/section in this book needs to include past chapter present chapter future chapter (Then, Now, & Later) or any title you want to give them. Chapters content will be a series of sentence starters which you will complete. (Minimum) For higher grade expand sentence to paragraphs. (Remember more is good! Less is bad.)

Book of Life Evaluation The following are the criteria on which the Book of Life will be graded. This should be used as a check list when putting your book together. COVER- reflects the contents, bound, pictures on the cover (3%) TITLE PAGE- author’s name, copyright date, dedication (2%) TABLE OF CONTENTS- list page #s of contents of book (5%) INTRODUCTION- describe steps you took to put your book together (5%) FAMILY TREE- a tree or chart showing your heritage. (10%) TIMELINE- a timeline with at least 10 events (5%) FIVE EVENTS- 5 events from timeline explained in 1/more paragraphs (5%) BIOGRAPHY/BODY OF THE BOOK- This includes the sentence starters, should be paragraph or more. Also, Value/Family crest and photos(current photo must be included) & , pictures, and illustrations. (50%) OVERALL PERFORMACE- extra effort, creativity, exceeding the requirements, How you WOW me! (15%)
