Vertical Career Development Timeline At what age does career development begin? Let’s make a timeline: Every Career Development touch a student would have in PK-12th experience

Things to consider… Why is vertical alignment of career development important? Why is it important to align career development horizontally? What is the difference in ‘recruitment’ and ‘career development’? What does it mean to ‘go deeper’ in career development?

Common Language Do you know the difference? Graduation Checklist Program of Study Career Major (Program Plan of Study) Individual Career and Academic Plan

Individual Career and Academic Plans How many TCs have ICAPS for all students? How many HSs have ICAPS for all students? Why is it important to have partnerships on developing and updating ICAPs?

Individual Career Plan Rubric Recommended requirements Staff involvement Grade level group or individual participation Review Parent involvement Academic and interest assessments

Activity Table Groups You have a colleague who has asked you for suggestions on how to move to the next level on the rubric. List specific activities which would provide evidence of continuous improvement to the next level.

What Do You See? What excites you about the prospect of assessing your program’s implementation of helping every student develop an ICAP? Do you see a way to use this rubric for program collaboration? How could you use this rubric for program advocacy?

Steps to begin program suppport Develop a diverse advisory team.
