2017 Adult Softball League Organizational Meeting

Deadlines Priority Deadline - March 17, 2017 Final Deadline – March 31, 2017 Priority deadline is for 2016 summer teams - must register prior to priority deadline for guaranteed placement. New team registration or registrations received after the priority deadline - first come first-serve.

2017 Divisions Monday – Co-Ed Upper League Tuesday – Men’s Lower League Wednesday – Co –Ed Lower League Thursday – Men’s Lower League

2016 Team Qualifications Refer to Team Qualifications List Determined based on league and tournament results and made at the discretion of the GREC staff and Softball Board. Must have 5 or more players from the last years teams to qualify as a priority team. If 2016 team splits into two teams, the team with the most returning players qualify.

League Roster and Player Fees Team & Player Registration: Managers must submit their Team Registration, Sponsor Fee and a Roster (minimum 9 players required) prior to the deadline. The team roster must be submitted on the Summer Softball League Roster Form to the Recreation Office prior to the deadline. The team registration and sponsor fee may be submitted online or at the Recreation Office. Once the teams have been reviewed and approved by the Softball Advisory Board, individual player registration will open on April 3, 2017. Thereafter, individual players may register online or at the Recreation Office and pay the corresponding player fee any time prior to play. Team manager fee is waived.

Additional Roster Information Late Player Registration: Additional players may be added to a roster any time prior to tournament play under the following conditions. 1) The players must meet the eligibility requirements for the league. 2) The player must register at the Greenville Recreation Office or online paying the corresponding player fee and signing the liability waiver prior to play. 3) Late registered players are eligible to compete immediately following registration however, the player will remain a Probationary Player pending eligibility approval by the Softball Advisory Board. It can take up to 7 days for review by the Advisory Board. The Greenville Recreation Department will notify the player and the team manager if any player fails to meet the eligibility requirements for the league. Refunds will not be issued if a player fails to meet the eligibility requirements after they have played in a game.

Roster Information Continued Players are NOT permitted to add to a roster after league play has concluded, no exceptions Random roster checks will be conducted. Failure to comply to the rule will result in forfeit.

Upper Players on Lower Teams Men’s League: No more than 3 players from an upper MEN’S LEAGUE may participate on a single Men’s lower team. Comment: Participation in the upper Co-Ed division does not impact the Men’s League eligibility. Rule applies to league participation in 2016 Summer & 2016 Fall Men’s Leagues only.

Upper Players on Lower Teams Co-Ed League: No more than 4 players from an upper MEN’S and/or upper CO-ED League Team may compete on a single lower team; of those 4 players, no more than 2 may be men. Exception: an all-women’s team in the Co-Ed League may compete with more than 4 upper players. Rule applies to league participation in 2016 Summer & Fall Leagues and the 2017 Summer Softball League.

Bat Testing Hours of testing: Mandatory Bat Testing - all bats must be tested and approved prior to use in league play. Hours of testing: Fields: First week of league play 30min prior to first game to start of last game. Office: Mon-Friday, 8:30-4:30pm

Rules - Review and Changes NO ALCOHOL allowed in bench area or on playing field! Encroachment Line Lower Co-ed Only Line up cards need to be turned in to the umpire 5 minutes prior to the start of your game. The clock will start at game time.
