First Grade News February 13th-17th Upcoming Items: Specials: Feb. 13th: Conference Confirmation Sheets come home in red folders Feb. 14th: Valentine’s Day Party Feb. 17th: Neon/80’s Day! Feb. 20: NO SCHOOL PRESIDENTS’ DAY Feb. 23rd: Conferences 4-8pm Feb. 24th: Focused on Friends Green Shirts Feb. 28th: Conferences 4-8pm March 2nd: Conferences 4-8pm Math: We are continuing Unit 6 on graphing. Being able to understand data from a bar graph, picture graph, table and tally table will be important in this unit! We will also be using the words more and fewer to interpret information from a graph. Reading/WritingHealth/Social Studies: This week we will be sharing our Human Body books with the class that we finished last week. We will also be reading and writing about Dental Health, Abraham Lincoln, and George Washington. Science: Students will be working on a Project Lead the Way unit learning about how our stomach, lungs, muscles and bones work. Students will end the unit by designing a cast that is light, comfortable, strong, and waterproof! Specials: Mon: Day 6 Gym Tues: Day 7 Art Wed: Day 8 Music Thurs: Day 9 Media Fri: Day 10 Gym Phonics: -ed The –ed can make a “t” sound like in baked, “ed” sound like in wanted, or “d” sound like in filled.
