Fifth Grade Newsletter Reading: This week we are finishing up text structure. We will have a mini quiz on Tuesday. We will also continue working on analyzing two or more accounts of the same topic. Writing: In writing we are writing informational/explanatory pieces. Social Studies In Social Studies students are wrapping up their test over the 13 colonies and beginning the American Revolution. Math We will be taking our test over adding and subtracting fractions.  We will then begin our unit on adding and subtracting mixed numbers with our focus on improper fractions and mixed numbers. Math Test should be on Feb. 14th Fifth Grade Newsletter Birthdays: Notes: -Please make sure you are encouraging 20 minutes of reading at least 4 times a week. This is very important for comprehension and fluency. -We are starting students of the week this week! I will select two students a week to sit in the rolling chairs instead of their traditional seat based on behavior and expectations.
