They are usually old and have been sung for hundreds of years. This kind of church is often very loud and energetic. People worship freely and joyfully. Jesus taught his disciples to pray like this so it is a very important prayer The minister gives a talk to encourage and challenge the people Worship follows a pattern written down in a prayer book. Anglican, Catholic and Orthodox churches have this kind of worship Communication with God,

Public Worship The most common public form of worship is the Eucharist (meaning ‘give thanks’) It is also known as Mass, Holy Communion and the Lord’s Supper Public worship has many forms but all include hymns, songs and prayers set to music It also involves a sermon by the Vicar/ Minister All public worship involves expressing commitment and devotion to God in a public way

Private Worship Some Christians set time aside to pray and read the Bible at home on their own This daily act is often called ‘quiet time’ or ‘devotional’ Prayer is an important part of private worship and brings the Christian closer to God Christians often meet together in their homes in Bible study groups

The Lord’s Prayer / Our Father Personal Praise Petition Penitence Protection Our Father who art in Heaven, Hallowed be thy name, Thy kingdom come, thy will be done On earth as it is in Heaven, Give us this day our daily bread, And forgive us our sins, As we forgive those who sin against us And lead us not into temptation But deliver us from the evil one.

Hail Mary Hail Mary, full of grace. Our Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Glory be to the Father Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
