Mentoring Tell me and I'll forget.  Show me and I might remember.  Involve me and I'll understand. --Anonymous “We’ve got to stop blaming young people for where fate puts them in the world. Instead, we must build pathways that help kids make their transitions to better choices.”   “We know from research that a caring relationship with an adult is the most significant indicator that a young person will transition to successful adulthood.” -- Maureen Sedonaen

Mentor Activity Log Date Comment 5/3/06 1st initial meeting, talked one on one and with mother 6/6/06 went to see Mission Impossible 3 and went for ice cream afterwards 7/24/06 Went to get food and watched a movie with my brother. Talked about Lindsey's new job, etc. 8/31/06 Lindsey and I went to grab some food and we talked about what school he was going to in the fall and how his job was going. 9/19/06 just hung out with Lindsey...I made sure everything was going ok with his classes thus far and he feels this year will be good for him 10/1/06 Lindsey and I went to my restaurant where I work, McCovey's because he previously told me that he's interested in becoming a chef. I had one of the Sous Chefs take him for about an hour tour throughout the kitchen and the whole restaurant and then we ate. Lindsey had a great time, and we discussed about cooking meals at his house for practice and also about looking for a job at a restaurant. I think the time we spent was the best time we've ever had together, we made a lot of progress. 11/10/06 I went over to Lindsey's house and we cooked dinner for the whole family. An easy recipe but it went really well and we had a great time. 12/26/06 Lindsey's mom called me today to tell me there was a family emergency and I just stopped by to talk to Lindsey before work.
