PRIOR TO NIPM Prior to the formation of NIPM the Aurangabad chapter was a part of the erstwhile “National Institute of Labour Management (NILM). The chapter was inaugurated on 10th March 1980, by late Mr. Anand Bhadkamkar, the then Managing Director of Marathwada Development Corporation. The following were elected on the first Executive Committee. Mr. S.G. Gokhale (Retd IG), President, Mr. V.P. Khanolkar, Chairman, Mr. Babu Marlapalle, Secretary (Now Hon. Judge, Mumbai High Court, Members, Mr. M.A. Mirza, Mr. A.P. Deshpande, Mr. B.A. Siddiqui, Mr. V.N. Bindoor, Mr. A.B. Kulkarni, Mr. N.N. Tiwantane, Mr. Z. Varsi & Smt. Shakuntala Lahoti.

CONTINUE……. Among the dignitaries present on the occasion of the inauguration were Mr. P.P. Kulkarni, the Chairman of NILM, Mr. M.S. Naik, Advocate, Mumbai, Mr. P.V. Karnik, Retd. Personnel Manager, The Times of India, Mumbai, Mr. Vijayendra Kabra, Renowned Union Leader, Aurangabad, all the Personnel Professionals and unit heads from Aurangabad. This chapter functioned till NILM and IIPM (Indian Institute of Personnel Management) merged to form NIPM (National Institute of Personnel Management) in the year 1980 at Chennai.

FORMATION OF THE PRESENT CHAPTER There was no formal chapter of NIPM at Aurangabad. However, we used to meet informally as a group of NIPM till 1991. The efforts were made by all the personnel professionals to form a chapter among whom were Mr. D.N. Wandre, Mr. P.P. Bhalerao, Mr. J.M. Potdar, Mr. A.P. Deshpande, Mr. S.B. Kapade, Mr. Mohan Sharma, Mr. Makarand Deshpande, Mr. Ram Marlapalle, Mr.Ulhas Bhoomkar etc. to mention a few. During this period this group was attached to Nashik Chapter. The golden day dawned on 17th January 1991. The Aurangabad Chapter of NIPM was formally inaugurated on this day at the hands of Mr. Madhur Bajaj, the then Chief Executive of Bajaj Auto Limited, Waluj. Mr. D.R. Nagraj, the then National President of NIPM presided over the function. Several Unit heads, Govt. Officers were present on this occasion. We got the chapter status under the leadership of Mr. Mukund Bhalerao.

NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT Aurangabad Chapter On 17th January 1991 The Aurangabad Chapter of NIPM was formally inaugurated at Sita Hall- Rama International Hotel. On this day at the hands of Mr. Madhur Bajaj, the then Chief Executive of Bajaj Auto Limited, Waluj. Mr. D.R. Nagraj, the then National President of NIPM presided over the function. We got the chapter status under the leadership of Mr. Mukund Bhalerao & BA Siddique. The function being anchored by Ulhas Bhoomkar & Anjali Dodake-Gijare.

INSTITUTE’S CREST The Ashok Chakra in the centre depicts the all India character of the Institute and also represents the wheel of progress. The low wheel round the bottom half of the Ashok Chakra represents industry in which the personnel management functions are now fairly well set. The ear of corn on the other half of Ashok Chakra depicts personnel management functions as applied to agriculture which is the avocations of the largest segment of people in the country. The star reminds us that the institute would be our guiding star in developing our professional skill and expertise.

CODE OF ETHICS As a member of the National Institute of Personnel Management, I declare that I shall: Subscribe to the aims and objects of the National Institute Of Personnel Management and be bound by its constitution. Recognise and accept the dignity of an individual as human being, irrespective of religion, language, caste or creed. Maintain high standard of integrity and behaviour demanded by the profession. Conduct myself as a responsible member of the management team committed to the achievement of the organizational goals. Take keen interest in the establishment of healthy personnel practices and development of the profession. Try to win confidence and gain respect of the employers and employees and make myself available to them to provide formal and informal intervention to resolve industrial conflicts.

Not take or acquiesce in any such action which may bring the Institute and/or the profession into disrepute.

NIPM MISSION AND VISION NIPM firmly believes in the dignity of human beings at work and their relationship within the enterprise. Keeping this in mind, NIPM is striving : To spread the message of Professional Management in Human Resource Management and Development. To promote an awareness of Professional Personnel Management at all levels in different organisations. To organise activities and programmes at both the national and chapter level with a view to upgrade the skills and professional standards of its members. The main objectives of the Institute as enshrined in its constitution are:   To spread the knowledge on the approach, principles, practices, techniques and methods regarding personnel management, industrial management, industrial relations, labour & social welfare and industrial jurisprudence in all their bearings.

CONTINUE……. To serve as a forum for exchange of ideas and experiences and collection and dissemination of information on management in general and personnel management, industrial relations, human resources development and labour & social welfare, in particular. To sponsor, promote, encourage, conduct and contribute to the study and research and impart instructions in any subject touching any or all aspects of personnel management, industrial relations, labour and social welfare, industrial legislation and industrial jurisprudence, including their social, sociological, political and economic background and context. To promote and safeguard the status and the interests of personnel management, industrial relations and labour welfare at work places and the interests of those engaged therein. To represent the Institute and its interests before Local, State and Central authorities and other organisations,commissions, boards, enquiry bodies etc., in India and abroad.
