Philosophy of Writing

Writing Page

Writing Page Too Soon We watched Maple Leaf games and slaughtered plates of buffalo wings like starving cavemen in dive bars with loud Bridge and Tunnel Kids shouting at the top of their lungs, and went to seething holes in the wall below the Brooklyn Bridge to do five minutes of Standup at an Open Mic in front of a murdering posse of jaded comics who stared daggers of hate at us, whispered words of venom, but we didn’t care because we were young, and the glittering city raised itself up for us and us alone, because five million years of evolution had given birth to us and your talent which blazed across the firmament, set fire to the stage, ripped apart the fabric of the cosmos, so even Newton and Einstein would rename Gravity after you, and you smiled like sunrise on Easter when I told you about Roswell and the Shadow Government on the N Train home to Astoria on the last night that you were alive, before you went to Valhalla, and if I had known how difficult it was for you, that sometimes life was like eating broken glass, that sleep was elusive because of that black widow called Depression, I would have said something meaningful instead of that canned Hallmark Card Tripe that I came up with as I walked into the Walgreens to buy cough syrup and saw you for the last time, walking down the street, alone.
