LAS Advising Center Come to the LAS Advising Center for: ●Academic exploration and course selection ●Major and career planning ●General education completion ●Degree Works interpretation ●Transfer credit evaluation ●Pre-professional advising ●Graduation timeline ●Non-academic issues and referrals to other campus resources. We are located in 115 Grace Wilkie Hall between the Heskett Center and Ablah Library.
College Requirements With careful planning, you can incorporate the Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS) graduation requirements with your WSU General Education requirements: ● English or Foreign Language Literature (counts as an Introductory Humanities course) ● U.S. History (counts as an Introductory Humanities course) or Political Science (counts as an Introductory Social and Behavioral Science course) ● Biological Science (counts as an Introductory Natural Science course) ● Physical Science (counts as an Introductory Natural Science course) ● One science course must include a laboratory experience ● Further Studies or Issues and Perspectives course in the Fine Arts/Humanities, Social and Behavioral Science, and Natural Sciences. (count as your General Education Further Studies/Issues and Perspectives courses) ● Foreign Language through the intermediate level for all Bachelor of Arts Degrees and the BS in Criminal Justice.
Undecided Students Exploring majors: ● Choose General Education courses to explore different majors. ● Visit with your college advisor to find out about different majors, departmental organizations, activities, research and career opportunities. ● Visit departmental websites to see what the faculty and students are up to. ● Consider Cooperative Education and Internship opportunities. ● Remember you will need elective courses to complete your degree. This is another great way to explore your options.
Pre-professional Students Planning on attending Medical, Dental, Chiropractic, Pharmacy or Law School? Make sure you start planning early. Pre-professional advisors in the Liberal Arts and Sciences Advising Center can help you with: ● Pre-requisite courses required for professional schools ● Creating a 4-year timeline that includes activities for a competitive application ● Required extra-curricular activities such as shadowing and volunteer opportunities, ● Test prep for the MCAT, DAT, PCAT, LSAT ● Letters of recommendation ● Joining the appropriate student organization
