Who invented the circular football huddle? The Gallaudet University team quarterback Paul Hubbard invented it in 1894. He realized the opposing Deaf teams could understand their signed play calls on the field. Hubbard gathered his players in a close circle to call plays, and the tradition of the football huddle was born. (p. 87)
