Using labels for records management When an item is labeled as a record, four things happen: The item can’t be permanently deleted. The item can’t be edited. The label can’t be changed. The label can’t be removed.
Use labels instead of these features There are several other features that have previously been used to classify content or manage records in Office 365. These are listed below. These features will continue to work side by side with labels created in the Security & Compliance Center. But moving forward, for data governance, we recommend that you use labels instead of these features.
