Economy in the Bahamas By Jason Sanchez

Currency Bahamian dollar, divided into 100 cents; equal in value to U.S. dollar. Also have half dollar bills, a fifteen cent coin. Residents or visitors may spend either Bahamian or U.S. dollars in the Bahamas, though outside the Bahamas, Bahamian money is not too valuable (trading at times at nearly half its face value)

Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is the total value of goods and services produced annually. According to the world bank, the Bahamian economy stood at $4 BILLION DOLLARS!!! Bahamians enjoy a high standard of living. They earn five times more than a college-educated teacher in Jamaica.

Major Industry Tourism, which accounts for about 60 percent of income. Fifty percent of employment 3.4 million tourists annually
