Presentation transcript:

About the cupcakes ….. The ‘F’ drive is a great place to start your research. Everything on your decorated cupcake designs MUST be edible (this is for safety reasons for younger children) You can use Butter Icing, Fondant Icing, lollies, biscuits etc. or a combination. You will be marked on your skill level and the appropriateness of the design to the party theme.

Butter Icing Butter Icing can be coloured and then piped onto the cupcake with a piping bag or spread onto the cupcake. You can use different piping pieces to get different effects. E.g………… Cookie monster has butter icing spread over cupcakes , then lollies applied. Roses are piped with butter icing, with a fondant icing base

Fondant Icing Can be coloured and then rolled flat and cut or shaped/moulded into figures e.g…. The cupcakes above all require you to make the decorations at home so they have a chance to dry and harden in the air. They do take extra time however the end result is worth it!

Fondant icing to cover your cupcakes…. A Teddy bear’s picnic Notice how the fondant icing gives a smooth covering to your cakes. Colour your icing then roll out on bench and cut out circles to attach to cake tops.

Or use lollies, biscuits etc….

The heart shaped fondant icing needs to be pre-cut and dried so the shapes will stay in shape and not sag because they are soft. The butter icing was piped on first with a piping bag.
