SWEDEN – a sporting nation App 10 million inhabitants More than 3 million are member in a sports club Some 2,4 million are ACTIVE in a sports club Swedish sport focuses particularly on youth sport and sport for all

SWEDEN – a sporting nation Half a million leaders of whom the majority are volunteers Our voluntary leaders are cruical for our day-to-day activities The financial value of the annual contribution provided by voluntary leaders is estimated Euro 2 Billion

Sport in a sports club Voluntary societies play a major role in Swedish life. We have the highest ratio of societies an clubs to population in the world. There are around 20 000 sports clubs in Sweden Almost two in three boys and one in two girls between the ages of 6 and 18 are members of a sports club

Gender equality in Sport There are approved objectives for gender equality and our strategy is gender mainstreaming. For example… Women and men in all decision making and advisory bodies and senior positions are represented by at least 40 per cent each Women and men are represented by at least 40 per cent each in child and youth sports on sports club level, in upper secondary sports schools and among leaders of the national teams of Special Sport Federations Nominating committees at all levels, in addition of the chair are composed of an equal number of women and men

Integration in Sport We want to be a positive force against segregation and exclusion. Sport in Sweden offers integration activities in 224 of 290 municipalities Around 5400 coaches and leaders are committed to around 1000 projects People coming to Sweden can get together, train and meet new people, while learning a new language

Sport is global Our international guidelines set out fundamental standpoints for the international action of the Swedish sports movement. We work on important issues for Swedish sports at international level We participate in the exchange of international knowledge and experience We want to increase Swedish representation in international sport bodies We work to bring more international sports events to Sweden
