Important Considerations about (CT)² Encompasses technical education (not general education). Recognized industry standards have been interpreted to mean credentials, licenses, or vendor specific certifications such as CCNA, A+, Network +, MCP, MCTS, etc. Program charters, accreditations, or approvals are used as proof that learning outcomes are being met. (CT)² does not supplant or undermine regional, bilateral agreements. It provides a minimum statewide course guarantee. Uses learning outcomes as the basis for equivalency. Career-Technical Assurance Guides (CTAGs) and Career-Technical Articulation Numbers (CTANs) serve as the “connector/translator” where credit is assigned to knowledge.

Definitions Career-Technical Assurance Guide (CTAG) An overview of equivalent content and learning outcomes. Comprised of one or more CTANs Career-Technical Articulation Number (CTAN) Comprises the CTAGs Provides a numbering system for easy identification of content Ohio Articulation Number (OAN) CEMS is a Web-based tool that supports course/program submission, review, and posting of equivalent courses/programs.

Credits Available to Those Holding Various Certifications Must access credit within 3 years of program completion or within currency of private vendor certificate. Vendor certifications are recommended in many cases but OCTCA end of program assessments are acceptable for most of the IT CTANs For example: Basic requires passage of OCTCA End of Program Assessment and IC³ or ICDL A+ Essentials requires passage of OCTCA End of Program Assessment and CompTIA A+ Essentials Certificate Cisco Exploration I requires CCNA or CCENT Certificates or Passage of Semester Tests in Cisco CCNA Discovery I & II or Cisco CCNA Exploration I Key: CCNA, Cisco Certified Network Associate CCENT, Cisco Certified Entry Network Technician OCTCA, Ohio Career-Technical Competency Assessment CompTIA A+, Computer Technology Industry Association (Validates knowledge of computer technicians) IC³ , Internet and Computing Core Certification ICDL, International Computer Driving License (Digital literacy certification)

Status of Institutional Submissions Number of IT Campuses = 130 [number of institutions from which we expect at least one submission] # of IT CTANs to be approved = 357 [includes institutions with multiple CTAN submission] # of IT CTANs submitted = 170 # of IT CTANs approved = 108 Percent approved (of total possible) = 30% Approval rate for courses submitted is 108/170 = 64%

The Reality: If the Shoe Fits You Must Submit Institutional Expectations Course credit must be awarded to the matriculating student with verified CTAN numbers in one of two ways: A course or program for which your institution has received (CT)² approval via validation panels. In such cases the courses and their associated credit hours will be transcripted and applied to the applicants technical major. In the absence of an equivalent course, and when the institution offers the technical program, credit will be granted by the receiving institution that is no less than the minimum value of the CTAN or CTAG with the specifics determined by the receiving institution. http://regents.ohio.gov/careertechtransfer/index.php
