Area & Perimeter Scrapbook Robert Johnson Ms.Togans 3rd Period

Rectangles Area = Length x Width Perimeter = 2Length + 2 Width Ex. A rectangle has a length of 8 centimeters and a width of 3 centimeters. P = 8 cm + 8cm + 3 cm + 3 cm = 22 cm 8 x 3 = 24

Triangle Area ½(bh) Perimeter a + b + c Example 1: Find the area of an acute triangle with a base of 15 inches and a height of 4 inches. Solution: = · (15 in) · (4 in) = · (60 in2) = 30 in2

Parallelogram Area : Base x Height Perimeter : 2(Base Length + Side Length) Suppose the length is 8 and the width is 6. 8 + 6 is 14 then multiply by 2 and your perimeter is 28. Find the area of a parallelogram with a base of 12 centimeters and a height of 5 centimeters. Solution: = (12 cm) · (5 cm) = 60 cm2

Circles Perimeter : 2pi r Area : A = II r² Example 1:The radius of a circle is 2 inches. What is the diameter ? Solution: d = 2 · (2 in) = 4 in Example 1:The radius of a circle is 3 inches. What is the area ? Solution: A = 3.14 · (3 in) · (3 in) A = 3.14 · (9 in2) A = 28.26 in

Hexagon Perimeter : s + s + s + s + s + s Area : (3√3/2 )r² Example 1: Find the perimeter of a triangle with sides measuring 5 centimeters, 9 centimeters and 11 centimeters. Solution: P = 5 cm + 9 cm + 11 cm = 25 cm Example 2 : Area = ½ x 6(3.00) x 2.60 Solution : Area = 23.40 cm²
