Lecturer Benefits Orientation August 24, 2017

Am I Eligible for Health, Dental and Vision Benefits? Lecturers are eligible for health, dental and vision benefits if: Appointed for at least 6 WTUs (0.4 time base) for at least one semester Units are combined if working at multiple CSU campuses Must fully complete and return a benefits enrollment worksheet, including all necessary documentation, in a timely manner Please note, the eligibility requirements for CalPERS pension differ from those for health/dental/vision coverage

When do I Enroll in Benefits? If eligible, your benefits will be effective on October 1, 2017 provided you turn in all documents by September 29, 2017. Completed Benefits Enrollment Worksheet Supporting documentation for covered dependents must be attached Birth Certificate Marriage Certificate/Registered Domestic Partner Certificate Parent-Child Relationship Affidavit and supporting documents All paperwork must be received within 60 days from August 21st (October 19, 2017.) If your paperwork is received after the 60 day deadline, your benefits will take effect the 1st of the month after 90 days from the date all completed paperwork is received by the Benefits Office. May also enroll during Open Enrollment (9/11 to 10/6) for a January 1, 2018 effective date.

Dental Insurance The CSU pays the full cost for dental insurance for you and your eligible family members Two plans to choose from: DeltaCare USA (Dental HMO Plan) May only use primary dental provider Must select a primary dentist, or one will be assigned to you No annual maximum California only Delta Dental PPO Use any dentist Rates better with PPO or Premier dentists $2000 per person annual maximum

VSP - Vision Service Plan Basic or New Premier Plan Enrollment for you and eligible dependents in the Basic plan is automatic and at no cost to you! Monthly cost to upgrade to the new Premier plan is: Enroll directly with VSP for the Premier plan during open enrollment Use participating providers and no claim forms are needed If you use non-participating providers, you will need to file a claim with VSP and wait for reimbursement Computer glasses are available as a second pair of glasses for the employee only under the Basic plan Employee $4.33 Employee +1 $16.13 Employee + Family $30.52

Flex Cash! Do you have medical and/or dental insurance already through another non-CSU employer plan? If so, you can receive additional cash in your pay check each month by waiving our coverage: $140.00 per month if both Medical and Dental are waived $128.00 per month if only Medical is waived $12.00 per month if only Dental is waived Proof of other coverage due at time of enrollment Please note, Flex Cash is treated as taxable income

CalPERS Retirement CalPERS = California Public Employees’ Retirement System Eligible employees are automatically enrolled in a defined benefit pension program starting on first day of employment Pre-tax deductions will be taken from your paycheck Amount differs depending upon start date Different benefit formulas depending on entry date into CalPERS Must be at least 50 or 52 at time of retirement Percentage factor tied to age at retirement

CalPERS Retirement Eligibility Lecturers must work 3 consecutive semesters with a time base of at least 7.5 WTUs (0.5 time base) for CalPERS pension eligibility Semesters must be consecutive to attain eligibility Once you are eligible and start contributing, your eligibility will remain as long as you are still employed in an eligible classification May combine units across CSU campuses Please note, contributions to CalPERS or the PST plan will both appear as “Retirement” on your pay stub. No Social Security deductions for PST eligible employees

Part-time, Seasonal and Temporary Employees Retirement Program (PST) Eligible employees are automatically enrolled in this mandatory retirement program. www.savingsplusnow.com or 855-616-4776 Pre-tax deductions in the amount of 7.5% will be taken from your paycheck Eligible for distribution after you separate from all State employment Not covered by Social Security If you become eligible for CalPERS pension, your contributions will be moved to the 457(b) plan

CSU Retiree Health Insurance Minimum 5 years or 10 years of CSU employment, depending upon CSU hire date Must be CalPERS pension eligible Must be at least age 50 or 52 at time of retirement Must retire within 120 days of CSU separation date to be eligible for lifetime retiree health insurance Contribution rates currently similar to those of active employees Rates change each year during annual enrollment Medicare enrollees pay less

Voluntary Retirement Plans and Deferred Compensation Plan   Administered by CSU through Fidelity Administered by State of CA (CalHR) Through Nationwide 403 (b) 457 (b) 401 (k) Taxability Deferred tax on investment; variety of investment choices. Deferred tax on investment; variety of investment choices. Roth also available. Deferral Limits $15 minimum monthly contribution. Participants in this plan cannot utilize both the age-based, and special 457 catch-up provisions The 15-year "Catch-up" provision and Traditional 457 "Catch-up" are not available. Rollovers Eligible rollover in from another employer's 403(b), 401(k) or governmental 457(b) plan. Eligible rollover in from another employer's 403(b), 401(k) or governmental 457(b) plan. Or from a Traditional IRA. Rollover Distributions Eligible rollover to another employer's 403(b), 401(k), or governmental 457(b) plan (exceptions apply), or to a 401(a) (service credit purchase) plan (exceptions apply) or to an IRA (must be at least age 59 ½ or separated from CSU employment). In-service 403(b) contract exchange to Fidelity. Eligible rollover distribution to an IRA (Traditional or Roth), another employer's governmental 457(b), or 401(k), or 401(a), or 403(b) plan. May not roll from SavingsPlus to CSU 403(b) plan until separated from CSU service. Eligible rollover distribution to an IRA (Traditional or Roth), or to another employer's 401(a), or 403(b) plan. May not roll from SavingsPlus to CSU 403(b) plan until separated from CSU service. Loans Loans Available; restrictions apply. Hardship Withdrawals Hardship withdrawal for severe financial hardship. Surviving Spouse Surviving spouse of participant may roll over distributions. Non-spousal beneficiary may rollover distributions to an inherited IRA.
