One Poem, Different Meanings Analysis: Many poems have varying interpretations from person to person…..AND, as long as those persons support their opinions with evidence from the text. GOOGLE/SEARCH: www.poetryfoundation.org Search: “The Road Not Taken” By Robert Frost Read and listen to the poem and answer the POETIC DEVICE questions BELOW: Summarize what is happening in the poem. Where is the speaker? What is he doing? What symbolism do you find in the poem? Use evidence to support your answers One interpretation is the speaker is choosing not to follow the crowd. Find THREE lines from the poem that support this interpretation. Another interpretation is that it doesn’t really matter which road the speaker chooses- because the two choices seem to be equal. Find several lines that support this view. Write a paragraph based on the interpretation you support. Back it up with evidence from the text. Find a video clip/song/that has a similar theme as the poem. Support your findings with evidence from the poem and choice of video or song.
