Christine Fleming, PhD (“Dr. Chris”) I’ve spent my life in education, training, and learning, starting out as a secondary English teacher. Since leaving the public school arena, I’ve taught and worked in administration at the college level; worked as a curriculum and instructional designer, developing programs in all formats – print, classroom, seminar, and online; served as a training manager for a large communications company; headed the corporate university for what was at the time one of the fastest-growing franchise companies in the world; and now I'm Associate Dean for Learning Design (LD) in the College for Professional Studies (CPS). LD is the unit that helps faculty create CPS courses like this one. Also, of course, I serve as an affiliate faculty member in the School of Education from time to time.   My B.A. is in English from the University of Iowa; my M.S. is in education from Indiana University; and my Ph.D., completed in 2005, is in education with a specialization in instructional design for online learning from Capella University. Capella is a completely virtual institution, so I think I have a good feel for the student side of the online learning experience. The one thing that I need when I’m attending a training or professional development workshop is interaction. If the presenter doesn’t give me enough opportunities to interact with others, I have a tendency to make my own. For example, I was once in a pretty dull session on “this year’s priorities” and after just sitting and listening for a while, I got my table laughing about our own version of what the priorities should be. That got some attention and I ended up announcing our revised priorities to the whole meeting. They were BETTER than what the presenter had! Christine Fleming, PhD (“Dr. Chris”)
