10 Questions on HMW Topic Question No.1 Do you think online predators are a real threat? why? Have you ever accepted a friend request from someone that you have not met in person? On a scale from 1-5, how aware are you of the dangers of online predators? Have you ever felt personally at risk of cyber predation? Have you ever been a victim of cyber predation? If you were caused to feel uncomfortable by someone suspicious online, what would you do? What would you do if you or someone else is targeted by online predators? STAGE 2: DEFINE

Insights Youths growing up in today’s world will be using technology for the rest of their lives, it is vital that they know how to use it safely. Many Youths/Teenagers neither met any online predator before in their life, nor having the experiences or ways to prevent online predators. More Youths/Teenagers are accepting friend request from someone that they have not met in person. Most Youths spend hours online, and are often interested in finding people who share their interests and have time to hang out. Most Teenagers have little experience with manipulative, dishonest adults, hence they may not recognize the early stages of an abusive relationship. Most Youths does not know what to react in time when they actually meet an online predators.

Reframe HMW Challenges Original HMW Topic Question: How might we help to prevent youths from being targeted by online predators? (MAIN, Digital Rights & Responsibilities) Reframe HMW Topic Question: Youngsters realised that they should be more educated on the dangers of online predation and learn how to prevent themselves from becoming a victim to an online predator if they ever meet one. (This is their need) And nowadays, Youngsters growing up in today’s world spend hours online, and are often interested in meeting new people from the Internet. However, many of them are naive and have little experience in dealing with manipulative people as they have not encountered them before. Thus, this makes it easy for them to become a victim to online predation. (This is your insight) How might we help to prevent youths from being targeted by online predators? (Digital Rights & Responsibilities)

STAGE 3: IDEATE

Ban the children from using computer

Crazy Solutions (Continue..) 7. Shut down all wi-fi and electronic devices. 8. School can actually educate the students with cyber-wellness programs. 9. Parents can keep track their children’s daily routine and activities. 10. Monitor online communications. 11. Accompanies youths beside or a distance away when they using webchat. 12. Hire a babysitter to keep an eye on the youths. 13. Send the youths on many activities to keep them occupied. 14. Limit and monitor the amount of time the youth spend on the Internet 15. Place the computer in a family room or somewhere visible. 16. Warn them about the dangers of the Internet. 17. Scare them for life. 给他们阴影!

Five Best Solutions Place the computer in a family room or somewhere visible. Accompanies youths beside or a distance away when they using web-cam and online chatting. School can actually educate the students with cyber- wellness programs. Limit and monitor he amount of the youth spend on the Internet. Send the youths on many outdoor activities to keep them occupied.

Feedback Summary Solution 1: Place the computer in a family room or somewhere visible. This may/may not work as although parent can restrict about the usage of computer, but it will invade the teenager’s privacy as some of our interviewees have mention about it. Solution 2: Accompanies youths beside or a distance away when they using web-cam and online chatting. This solution will not work at all, as all our interviewees agree unanimously that this solution will actually invade their privacy when they using web-cam for online chatting.

Feedback Summary (Continued) Solution 3: School can actually educate the students with cyber- wellness programs. This solution will work, as all our interviewees agree unanimously that the school have the responsibilities to guide the students with the cyber- wellness programs. As student normally will listen in class, and also will know more about some knowledge of cyber-wellness. Solution 4: Limit and monitor the amount of the youth spend on the Internet. This solution may/may not work as some of our interviewees think that even if they being limit from using Internet at home, they may use it on Mobile, or other places that have Internet. Although it help to prevent any addiction or meeting strangers online, but still, they can use Internet everywhere even if they being limit from using it at home and may lead to invading privacy if being monitor.

Feedback Summary (Continued) Solution 5. Send the youths on many outdoor activities to keep them occupied. All of our interviewees agreed unanimously that the teenagers should be encouraged to spend time on outdoor activities. As teenagers spend most of their time on study and online nowadays, they do not have any time for outdoor activities. Hence, by promoting outdoor activities, it will reduce the internet addiction for the teenagers and also, reduce the chance they meet strangers during online. Overall: 3 out of 5 interviewees have choose Solution 5, and 2 out of 5 interviewees have choose Solution 3.
