Our Teachers were: Reception – Mrs Kirwan Y1 – Ms Newton Y2 – Miss Baldwin Y3 – Y4 – Y5 – Y6 –

The skills we have developed in: History Geography RE PE Music MFL PSHE BLP Science DT Art ICT

What did we learn in : Year 2 Year 3 Year 4 Year 5 Year 6

Year 2 Themes Manor Field Masterchef! What skills make YOU a winner? Bright Sparks! Fire: Friend or Foe?

Manor Field Masterchef! I can follow instructions… I can speak instructions Sophie was very good at acting. I can use drama to retell the story of Biscuit Bear in a small group

people were impressed with how well she acted in front of an audience. Beauty IS a Beast! Our production told the story of a princess who was only beautiful on the outside Isabel learned her lines VERY quickly and helped Hermione by playing the part of Beauty at the last minute. Many people were impressed with how well she acted in front of an audience.

Bright Sparks! Fire: Friend or Foe? The Fire Service visited to launch our topic! We talked about how to prevent fires and what to do in a fire. We also discussed the idea of ‘Stop, Drop and Roll’. We thought about questions to ask the firefighters and listened to the answers well. The firefighters told us all about the fire engine so that we could use parts for our fire dances and the rest of our learning. Click on me to watch 2SB's fire dance! Sophie and Isabel created a dance based on a fire and the fire service being called to put the fire out… click on this to watch it! Listen to the talk on breathing apparatus!

Bright Sparks! Fire: Friend or Foe? As part of our learning, we built houses ready to burn, including St Paul’s Cathedral, Big Ben and the Bakery where it all began! I can use glue effectively, both wet and dry glue I can join materials using different methods: glue, sticky tape and masking tape. I can experiment with constructing and joining recycled, natural and manmade materials. Can recreate 2D images in a 3D piece. I can use tools, such as scissors in a safe way. 2SB were very precise with their parallel black lines!

Bright Sparks! Fire: Friend or Foe? The finished product! I can change and modify threads and fabrics by knotting, fraying, fringing, pulling threads and twisting. I can, with support, sew with wool, using simple running stitch. Ollie and Billie-May were very good at sewing! We put the events of the fire in chronological order and planned the scenes ready for our animation. We wrote diaries as if we were actually in the Great Fire of London! We found it quite hard to imagine we were there, but were able to say some of the things that happened in the fire and put them in chronological order.

Bright Sparks! Fire: Friend or Foe? We then watched our houses burned and realised how devastating a fire can be! We also felt the heat of the fire, even though we were a long way from it! The fire service threw a real sized bucket of water on the fire and we saw how it just doused the fire, but didn’t put it out! The fire service returned and set alight our houses! They actually showed us with small containers why the way the people tried to put out the fire failed! We saw first hand how the wind helped the fire to spread and how the houses being so close together made a real difference! Now watch our animation!
