Mission Statement The mission of the Parkview High School Counseling Department is to support and assist all students in the pursuit of excellence in academic knowledge, skills, and behavior as they develop their post-secondary plans. All students, through the participation in a comprehensive, developmental and data driven counseling program, will be provided with opportunities to achieve their greatest potential. The counselors will also effectively collaborate and consult with students, parents, teachers, administrators and community members to address and remove barriers to student success. The Counseling program ensures all students have equitable access to learn academic, career-oriented, and social/emotional skills that help them to become healthy, successful, and world-class citizens.

The Data—Program Goals Cont. The Dropout number includes students who withdrew because of incarceration, Pregnant, unknown, non-attendance, court order, transfer to Department of Juvenile Justice

Proposed Program Goals 1) By May 25, 2016, tenth grade Hispanic/Latino students who missed 6 to 10 days in the previous school year (14-15) and 5 or more during first semester of the current school year (15-16) will miss fewer than 5 days during the second semester. 2) By May 25, 2016, the number of retained black male students in grades 9-12 from the previous school year (2014- 2015) will decrease by 50%, from 51 to 25. 3) By May 25, 2016, the drop out rate percentage of English Language Learners in grades 9-12 will decreased by 50%, from 39 to 19.5.

Results from Perception Survey Results from PHS Counseling Perception Survey 212 Responses: Students: 137; Parents: 10; Teachers: 65 *Students Perception Survey Results* 94.1% understand the role of counselors On a scale from 1-10 (10 being strongly agree) 79.4% rated a 5 or better on agreeing Counselors were highly visible 83.8% rated a 5 or better on feeling comfortable meeting with counselor 77.1% rated a 5 or better that Counselor Classroom lessons have been helpful 83% believe the counseling department provides valuable services to the students of PHS 48.9% have visited Counselor Corner The top three topics they would like to be provided during small groups or classroom lessons are: Planning Your Future Friendships/Relationships Study Skills
