PRESENTATION ON INCENTIVE SCHEME IN ELECTRICITY TARIFF FOR VIDARBHA, MARATHWADA, NORTH MAHARASHTRA AND D & D+ AREAS

POINTS HIGHLIGHTED BY VIA WERE VIA HAD INTERACTION MEETING WITH HON’BLE ENERGY MINISTER SHRI. CHANDRASHEKHAR BAWANKULE ON 18TH DEC.2014 POINTS HIGHLIGHTED BY VIA WERE HIGH ELECTRICITY TARIFF IN MAHARASHTRA AND COMPETITION TO VIDARBHA INDUSTRIES FROM NEIGHBORING STATES HIGHT POWER INTENSIVE UNITS ARE CLOSED DOWN OR REDUCED PRODUCTION DUE TO CHEAPER RATES OF PRODUCTS FROM NEIGHBORING STATES HIGH POWER GENERATION BUT LESS CONSUMPTION IN VIDARBHA ENVIRONMENTAL AND WATER POLLUTION DUE TO POWER PLANTS FARMERS LAND IS SPOILED BECAUSE OF EHV TRANSMISSION LINES TRANSMISSION LOSSES ARE LOADED IN TARIFF BECAUSE OF LONG TRANSMISSION LINES FOR TRANSMITTING POWER TO OTHER PARTS OF STATES ONLY 10% OF POWER SUBSIDY PROVIDED BY GOM TO MSEDCL IS UTILIZED BY VIDARBHA VIA submitted memorandum and demanded tariff rebate of Rs. 1.5 per unit to Vidarbha Industries.

VIA office bearers visited Mumbai and submitted memorandum to Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra and Hon’ble Finance Minister of Maharashtra highlighting the above points and demanded rebate of Rs.1.5 per unit for industrial consumers in Vidarbha. VIA submitted calculations of impact by providing the subsidy to the tune of Rs.59 cr per month i.e. Rs.708 cr per year.

Govt. of Maharashtra took decision in the matter and formed inter divisional committee through GR of 29/9/2015 under chairmanship of Divisional Commissioner Nagpur and Co-chairman Divisional Commissioner Amaravati and Divisional Commissioner Aurangabad Industrial represnetative from Nagpur, Amaravati, Yavatmal, Aurangabad and Jalna were appointed as members in this committee The scope of committee to study the difficulties faced by industries of Vidarbha & Marathwada and to suggest incentive scheme in power tariff. Committee submitted its report to GoM on 30/11/2015. As per suggestion the impact of subsidy was about Rs. 900 cr per annum Govt. appointed another secretary level committee under chairmanship of Chief Secretary Maharashtra. The report was modified and submitted to cabinet and as per decision of cabinet. A separate committee of Ministers under chairmanship of Hon’ble Energy Minister was formed to take decision in the matter. After discussions the committee reached conculusion and a GR was issued providing incentive scheme which included Vidarbha, Marathwada, North Maharashtra and D and D+ zones of Maharashtra.
