CLICK HERE TO CHECK OUT AN EDUCATIONAL VIDEO! Yucky Water CLICK HERE TO CHECK OUT AN EDUCATIONAL VIDEO! Water pollution is any type of trash or chemical in a ocean, lake, pond, or any water area. Most water pollution comes from human activities. Another cause of water pollution is from littering. When humans litter then animals could eat or get caught in the trash. Some problems that water pollution is causing are contaminated rain water, lakes, and oceans. Animals mistaking the trash for food is killing their species off. We swim in the contaminated water. Trash floats around in the ocean and washes ashore and makes our beaches look unattractive. And drinking this dirty water can cause you the catch diseases like cholera, dysentery, amoebas, parasites, coli poisoning, schitzamonasis and giardia. Ways to prevent water pollution are Toxic products like paints, automobile oil, polishes and cleaning products should be disposed of and stored properly. They should never be disposed down the toilet or sink. It is better and more efficient to use non-toxic products. Non-degradable products like diapers and sanitary napkins should never go down the toilet. If they do they will end up messing up the treatment process and end up on litter on beaches. And try to refrain from just tossing your trash in lakes, oceans or rivers. Recycle in your house, classroom and anywhere else possible. Cut the plastic ties off sodas so they won’t end up around an animals neck.

Rubbish Trash pollution is any type of garbage/trash in water or on land. Have you ever seen trash or garbage on the sides of roads or in the road. Sometimes it is on accident or on purpose. Ways Trash Pollution has Happened: items left on beaches items have fallen off of boats or ships big heavy loads on ships have lost items things have flew out of cars, trucks, semi’s, and other big vehicles Problems trash pollution cause are unattractive and unpleasant looking places. When we burn our trash in incinerators it releases toxic air. Animals could mistake the trash on the ground for food and eat the trash and die. Throwing our trash in the right places like the garbage bin instead of throwing it outside our car window. Use and recycle degradable items and use as little non-degradable items as possible.

THIS IS WHAT WE BREATHE!? Air pollution occurs when fumes, gases, and dust enter our atmosphere. Causes are: cars, trucks, jet airplanes and other combustion engine vehicles cause air pollution. Office buildings, factories, homes and power-generating stations burn fossil fuels. Some power lines are not insulated and are high voltage. Pesticides that are used to kill outdoor and indoor pests. Insecticides used to kill insects and herbicides used to kill weeds. Problems that air pollution’s causing are causing people to get sick from breathing in the contaminated air. Another problem is this type of air pollution creates smog which causes respiratory health problems and holes in the ozone layer, which increases the exposure to the sun's harmful rays. Ways to reduce air pollution are: Walk or ride a bike to places that are relatively close to your home Use water-based paints Paint with a brush not a sprayer Use a push or electric lawn mower Replace regular light bulbs with fluorescent ones Add insulation to your home Dry your clothes on a clothes line Reuse paper bags Drive slowly on unpaved roads Don’t smoke Clean frequently to remove dust and mold

Help our Earth! Open blinds during the day so you don’t have to worry about turning on and off the light. Carpool with your friends to keep the exhaust level down. Recycle in your neighborhood. When at a grocery store use plastic bags so you can recycle them. At school you can recycle any paper after you have used. Unplug item, such as phone chargers when not in use. Take quicker showers. Or turn off water when doing dishes and only use to rinse. Use Florissant light bulbs. Use less packaging for products. Spread the word about Going Green, and start by doing it in your community.
