Why are they doing it ? We simply cannot afford for our oceans and seas to reach a critical tipping point. Our ocean makes up three-quarters of our planet. No matter where we live, we all depend on our ocean for the food we eat and the air we breathe Every minute the equivalent of a rubbish truck load of plastic goes in to our oceans If nothing changes by 2050 all the plastic in the ocean could weigh more than all the fish

Why are they doing it ? It also has a direct impact on our health Big issues for our ocean health such as this affect us all Their thought: if we all work together, we can help to protect our oceans!

Topical matter Plastic bags soon to be banned? Plastic carrier bags appear in a negative light nowadays. The European Packaging Directive wants to limit the consumption of single-use plastic bags. This Directive is concerning the plastic bags with a thickness between 15 and 50 microns (µ). You definitely know these: the typical, ultra-thin bags given away at the cashier, and also known as t-shirt bags. In Belgium, these lightweight bags are already being charged for more than 10 years, which has reduced the use of single-use plastic shoppers with 80%. Our country was one of the best pupils of the (European) class regarding the consumption of disposable bags. The thin bags used for fruit and vegetables (less than 15µ) as well as carrier bags thicker than 50µ are not endorsed by Europe.
