By Taylor White, Grace Praxmarer, and Jack Ludolph THE ROAD TO FREEDOM

Summary In the book, The Road to Freedom by Lesa Cline-Ransome, Emma was born into slavery with her Mama and Papa. With her Papa sold in a auction block, Emma and her Mama realize that it is better to run away, as Emma or her Mama could be sold, too. Emma and her Mama have a rough journey to the North. Slave catchers are close to catching them, but with the help of others, Emma and her Mama make it to the North.

The Journey to the North You’re running, tired at risk of death Emma and her Mama felt this way in the book, The Road to Freedom We thought it was good Some others thought it was bad

The Opposing Side Some people thought this story was awful More description “But just as Mama went to take a step, the ice broke.” Better word choice

The Opposing Side Continued… More thrilling “When we got down the road a bit, I sneezed.” Should have got caught by the slave catchers and escaped

Our Side Harriet Tubman She is a hero and should be known to readers From this, readers are more connected to the story

Our Side Continued… Good overall message “…I was safe now from the auction block and we were together.” Happy Ending

A Good Story An overall decent story Some people thought it was bad We thought it was good story Read it! You may enjoy it!
