Bonsoir à tous! For the past 9 years, Velmead School has taken a group of Y6 children to France to experience French culture, learn about some French history, visit our twin school in Compiègne and, of course, put our French language skills to use. The trip is always a hugely enjoyable experience for both children and the adults involved.

Travel We will be using Reading and Wokingham Coaches to organise all our transport to France, and travel on an executive 53-seater coach. We will use the Channel Tunnel to reach France.

Accommodation We will be staying in the Hotel IBIS Budget in Senlis. Children will share ensuite rooms with one friend.

Compiègne In 2009 we established a link with the Collège Sevigné, a secondary school in Compiègne and the children are all writing to their French penpals. The children get the chance to meet their penfriends. They will also be able to practise their new language skills on their French counterparts and in turn help them with their newly acquired English skills. We will also visit the Château de Compiègne & the Armistice Museum.
