How we calculate class rank has changed:

Move On When Ready Earn college credit in high school All tuition, mandatory fees, and books covered Gain exposure to college level rigorous courses before graduating high school All coursework added to high school transcript, some satisfying graduation requirements Both passed and failed courses count toward your high school GPA Students will receive a failing grade on their high school transcript if a course is dropped (before the college’s drop/add period) and it cannot be replaced at the high school Any course dropped after the college’s drop/add period will automatically be a failing grade on the college and high school transcript

Who offers the MOWR program? Augusta University -Overall GPA of 3.0 -Combined SAT of 1000 or ACT composite of 21 -Must be a Junior or Senior East GA State College -SAT of 970 or ACT composite of 20 or exempting COMPASS exam score -Overall GPA of 3.0

Don’t have a 3.0? Augusta Technical College -no GPA requirement -SAT or ACT not required- Compass testing used for course placement -not all courses transfer to a 4 year institution Georgia Military College -2.5 GPA requirement -Will use ACT, SAT, or Compass exam to meet admission requirement -Use GATracs to see how credits transfer

Alternate Graduation Option Richmond County Schools Graduation Requirements Move On When Ready (MOWR) Alternate Graduation Option To earn a high school diploma, students must earn the specific 9 Carnegie units and complete: 1. An associates degree 2. A diploma from a technical college or program 3. Two Technical Certificates in a specified pathway leading to industry certification Important Notes: 1. Students no longer have to complete the End or Course Assessments associated with the required courses 2. Students pursuing this option may not meet all of the admission requirements for University System of Georgia institutions or other college/university programs 3. Students will not earn a diploma until all requirements (high school and postsecondary) are met

SAT—www.collegeboard.org The current SAT is composed of three sections: Critical Reading This section includes reading passages and sentence completions. Math This section includes questions on arithmetic operations, algebra, geometry, statistics, and probability. Writing (Optional) This section assesses your essay for: Reading, Analysis, and Writing Critical reading and Math will be scored on a 200-800 point scale, for a possible total of 1600. On the writing section, you will receive a score from 6-24, based on a 2-8 points per scoring measure– Reading, Analysis, and Writing. Scoring We recommend that sophomores wait until their Junior year to take the SAT or ACT, unless you are seriously interested in attending AU for MOWR.

ACT—www.actstudent.org The ACT is composed of four sections and an optional writing section: This section includes questions that measure your abilities in determining correct punctuation, grammar, sentence structure, organization, and style. English Math This sections includes questions from the areas of algebra (55%), coordinate and plane geometry (38%), and trigonometry(7%). Reading This section includes reading passages and questions based on what is directly stated and implied meanings from the passages. Science This section measures the skills required in the natural sciences: interpretation, analysis, evaluation, reasoning, and problem solving.. The ACT is scored by counting the number of questions that you answer correctly. There is no deduction for incorrect answers. Each section receives a scaled score from 1 (low) to 36 (high). ACCUPLACER Testing—taken at the college where you have applied Accuplacer is a computer-adaptive exam used to assess college readiness in Reading, English, and Math. You will receive your results for the Reading Comprehension and Algebra sections will be made available upon completion of the exam. However, the results for the WritePlacer portion of the exam may take up to 24-48 to receive results. You will take this test for some colleges even when you submit an SAT/ACT score. They will use it to match your skill level with the courses you will enroll in. Some schools will require this test instead of and SAT/ACT score. Most of the time, if you have applied to the school where you are taking the test, there is no fee. If you need your score sent to another school, please ask if there is a fee for this.
