Follow the CROSS! Not the CROWD! Matthew 7:13-28 Luke 13:24-29

TWO DESTINATIONS are connected to the FOLLOWING:... TWO GATES - vs 13-14. Which ONE do we GO through? TWO GROUPS - vs 15-23. Which of THEM do we believe? TWO GROUNDS - vs 24-27. Which of THEM do we build on? To start with... the TWO GATES, which one do we GO through? The Bible says in vs 13 -14...

What are the CHARACTERISTICS of the GATE? Three things … 1. TWO GATES! “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it." - Vs 13-14. The Bible says in John10:9, "I Am the DOOR..." JESUS Christ is the GATE of LIFE! What are the CHARACTERISTICS of the GATE? Three things …

Obedience In Philipians 2:8, "And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross." Exodus 19:5, "..., if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people;... John 14:23, “... Anyone who loves Me will obey My teaching. My Father will love them, and We will come to them and make Our home with them."

Self - Denial What is SELF-DENIAL? Simply stated as "renounce ungodliness and worldly passions" -Titus 2:11-12. The LUST of the flesh, LUST of the eyes and PRIDE of life—is not of the Father but is of the world." - 1 John 2:16. Galatians 2:20, "I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; …”

The NARROW Gate is Holy! HOLINESS in Christ is a MUST not an OPTION! Holy Life The NARROW Gate is Holy! HOLINESS in Christ is a MUST not an OPTION! Rom. 9:14-16 "14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. ... 16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God," He is Holy.. "but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy." - 1 Peter 1:15-16. Hebrews 12:14-17 "14 Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord: Hebrews 4:11, "11 Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience." (Luke 13:24).

2. TWO GROUPS! "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits...." vs 15-16 1 Cor. 12:27-28, "Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually. 28 And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues.“ Who is a PROPHET? - A Prophet is a man called and appointed by God to speak for Him and be His messenger. He receives the Lord's word for humanity; including revelations, prophecies and commandments. Examples, "He is a Prophet“ – Gen 20:6-7, Jer 1:5

3. TWO GROUNDS! “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: ... But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand:...". vs 24-27 Hearing and doing these words of Christ is very important! The storms of life are the challenges that come as we journey through this spiritual life! He is the ROCK that we BUILD upon! The Bible says Jesus Christ is the ONLY FOUNDATION that ALL must build upon - 1 Cor 3:11.

Summary Our text presented to us TWO - destinations! LIFE (Heaven) or DESTRUCTION (Hell)! These destinations are preceded by TWO - Gates, Groups and Grounds! Eternal Destruction awaits - people who choose the broad GATE, people who follow after the FALSE Prophets and will eventually build on the SANDY Ground! Apostle John in Reve 20:15 says, "a lake of fire" 2 Thes 1:7-9, "These shall be punished with everlasting destruction …," "...there are many who go in by it." - Matthew 7:13 Eternal Life awaits - people who journey through the NARROW GATE, who follow after the TRUE Prophets and their teachings, subsequently, will build on the ROCKY Ground which is Christ Jesus! We are promised of everlasting life - Matth 25:46 "... there are few who find it." - Matthew 7:14. Which of these DESTINATIONS are we heading towards? Jesus said, "I am the way, the Truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." - John 14:6.
