Government Procurement: Emerging Practice in the Apparel and Electronics Sectors Transparency Gaps

Elements of Transparency Disclose what? To whom? 1 Company Policy 2 Supply Chain 3 Monitor & Compliance 4 Capacity & Resources 2 Supply Chain

Menu of Transparency Choices – Coming in 2017    Disclose What? Methods Disclose to whom? Disclose how? Validate how? Public Govern-ment Mand / Volun Gov’t Access Stages Govt Stake-holder Third party Supply chain Prime contractor Tier I factory locations High-risk commodity Company policies Code of conduct Purchasing terms Monitoring Results of audits Remedies SLIDE COMMENTS The main challenge is complexity. There’s considerably more here than you can talk about. How can we simplify this slide? The row headings can be abbreviated, as shown in the next slide. Harmonize the use of capital letters (first word only). The column headings can be bolder/larger, as shown in the next slide. One way to simplify is to focus just on the level one headings for both rows and columns. Do compliance plans go under policies or under monitoring? I suggest having audit methods under company policies.
