A Unique Partnership With Like-Minded Organizations 2017 North American Inter-District Meeting Judy Kautz Zonta Club of Central Oklahoma

Why Partner With Other Organizations? Zonta is often called the “best kept secret” How do we spread the word about this amazing organization? One option is to create partnerships with like-minded organizations who work toward similar goals Partnerships multiply the impact of events or projects by expanding the reach Several enthusiastic groups are better than one!

Zonta Guidelines About Affiliations Before launching into relationships with other organizations, be sure to read Zonta International’s guidelines about affiliations, found on ZI website Affiliation with Other Organizations Policy Affiliation with Other Organizations Policy Guidelines Encourages Zontians to work with others when effective Sets conditions for any affiliation Zonta’s nonpartisan and nonsectarian character is preserved Zonta’s name and credibility are not likely to be adversely affected

Choosing Like-Minded Organizations Definition of Like-Minded: Resembling or similar; having similar opinions and interests; agreeing, compatible, harmonious, in accord, of one mind, of the same mind Review local service fund recipients and non-profit organizations in your community Check out their goals and objectives for a match with the Zonta mission Visit their facilities, events and meetings and invite them to yours

Central Oklahoma’s Zonta Says No Fun Walk and 5K Run Annual event held on the Saturday closest to International Women’s Day Registration costs: Walk $25; Run $35 Use signmeup.com for online registration Advertise on Facebook, Twitter, Club and District websites Announced in runner’s publications All participants receive a medal, t-shirt, and several complimentary items from partnership organizations

Our Partners’ Role Partnering organizations advertise and/or sponsor event Partners in 2017 include: YWCA – Domestic Violence Shelter Palomar – one stop legal support for victims of domestic violence Neighborhood Services Organization Martha’s House – providing furnished housing for homeless families Dragonfly Home – Oklahoma’s first human trafficking crisis center Youth Services Supporting Kids in Independent Living – providing support for homeless teenagers Monies raised are, in part, distributed to these organizations as local service

What’s Unique? Special event to distribute participants event packets the day before the walk/run Partner organizations set up information tables and pass out flyers and brochures Provides opportunity to tell about their causes and upcoming events and fundraisers Club members can also visit tables and learn too Refreshments are served Participants learn about what they are supporting

Benefits We build relationships with partners and expand influence and visibility in community We all collectively support and advertise each others’ events Events announced on Web, Twitter and Facebook pages We mutually gain memberships It is a win-win for everyone!

Let’s Brainstorm What are other types of community organizations? What are other types of events? What publicity opportunities work best? Where should profits go? Shared equally by organizations? United for one cause? Other ideas?

Thank you!
