SOHCAHTOA - When to use what Learning Target To develop an understanding of the proper times and circumstances to use the different trigonometric functions to work with forces and vectors.

SOHCAHTOA SOH: Sin = Opposite/Hypotenuse CAH: Cos = Adjacent/Hypotenuse TOA: Tan = Opposite/Adjacent

Regular vs. Inverse Trig Functions When should I use the regular trig function? If you have an angle and atleast one side measurement When do I use the inverse function? If you do not have an angle measurement

Law of Cosine When do I use it? Use for a non right triangle when you want to solve for a side in which you have the opposite angle and the two remaining sides

Law of Sine When do I use it? Use for a non right triangle when you want to solve for an angle opposite a known side, where another angle/side pair is known. OR when you want to solve for a side opposite a known angle, where another angle/side pair is known
