WELCOME Mrs. Outland

THANK YOU! Thank you for choosing this class! Please have paper and pencil to take essential notes.

Tips to take notes: Abbreviate Use a header for each new slide. Use a bullet list. Write neatly so you can understand your notes later. Don’t write every word. Use symbols and arrows. Use a header on all papers.

First five of class! Mrs. Outland must Students need to Do attendance Focus on doing attendance Check 3 times to make sure attendance is correct Focus a 4th time to make sure attendance is correct. Class header Write in the upper right-hand corner of paper First and last name Class name and block Assignment name Today’s date

Caring for the computers Don’t move the monitor Keep the mouse on the right Keyboard sits in front of the monitor. Don’t move it! Backpack and bags on the back of chairs Watch the wires! Careful! Only your feet under the tables Don’t put stuff on the system unit. No charging phones in Mrs. Outland’s room. Gum???? Put in the trash!

Write this down: Cell Phones, Mp3, Camera Silence and put phones away! Not to be used during instruction time! Put all personal technology away. Do not have them out. Put away all headphones, earbuds, camera, MP3 players, phones, gaming devices. No texting or talking on the phone during class! Students are not permitted

Dress Code I will check dress code faithfully. Students are expected to be well groomed and neatly dressed. The purpose of the dress code policy is to ensure that the dress and appearance of all students does not present health or safety hazards, I believe success is achieved through an enhanced learning environment, with a positive appearance a good attitude.

Restricted areas DON’T CROSS BLUE LINES! Do not get any items from the teacher’s desk. Don’t leave the classroom without a hall pass and the teacher’s permission.

Recycling TCHS recycles!! Put all recycling in the blue bins Paper, cardboard, plastic bottles, Mrs. Outland’s student do recycling each week.

Tardy to Class Don’t Do it! Be in your seat when the bell rings! 1st Block—Front at Tardy Table All other blocks—Teacher will mark Tardy! Have a note or remain marked tardy to class. Ms. Outland will give an explanation in IC

Work Groups You will work in groups in this class. When working in a group all students should: Use class time wisely Stay on task and focused on the work Produce quality, school appropriate results Follow class procedures and school rules

Write this down: Entering the classroom Enter quietly check agenda on the over head Get textbook Get bellwork Go to assigned seat Get your class “notebook” out Make sure you have all class materials You should be in your seat when the bell rings.

Bell Work Short introductory or review activity Should be completed within 5-10 minutes Follow directions on the Agenda for submitting If you finish early, check student folders, organize your notebook, study for quiz, Use your time wisely.

Write this down: First five of class I must take attendance I have my work to do, and you have yours. I can’t help you for the first five minutes of class.

When you are tardy Don’t do it! You must be in the room. 1st block—tardy table 2nd, 3rd, 4th—Teacher marks student tardy Enter class quietly because class will be in session. Give me your admit slip so I can change attendance.

School Wide Announcement NO talking Be still and quiet. Announcements are for students and teachers They are important.

Locating Daily Assignments You will have a paper agenda Daily agenda is written on the white board Pay attention to Do Now and Bell work instructions. Keep all copies of daily agenda in your notebook under the Course Information section.

Write this down: Using the hall pass Get permission Sign out Put lanyard around your neck. Sign in when you return.

Write this down: Dismissal The teacher dismisses the class; not the bell. Student must be in assigned seat before dismissal.

Returning graded Assignments Each student has a personal folder located in the file box. Graded assignments and projects will be placed in the students’ personal folder. File all returned papers in your student notebook. We keep all graded and ungraded assignments. Don’t throw anything out!

: Homework If you use your time wisely you shouldn’t have much homework. Projects will need to be completed outside of class. Work not finished will be “homework”.
