Framing: Placing the center of visual interest between two or more objects to create a frame. Bird’s eye: Photo taken from above, looking down. Worm’s eye: Photo taken from below, looking up. Composition Basics Selective focus Repetition Rule of Thirds Silhouettes Advisor Notes/Tips: Students should be able to tell you the definition of each of the terms. Selective Focus: subjects in focus while background/foreground is blurred. Repetition: patterns of people, expressions, or surroundings that lead the viewers eye to the subject Rule of thirds: dividing the photo into thirds vertically/horizontally and placing the subjects in one of the imaginary intersection. Silhouette: subject appears black as a result of a light source behind the subject instead of behind the photographer.
