Straightforward portraits - Above waist shots - Not too emotional - Captures a person in a static setting - Background compliments subject. Shouldn’t be too noticeable. - Props should be minor if any are included. - Lighting shouldn’t be too dramatic. - Pose should be natural and calm.

Up close portraits - Above neckline - Should show something unique - Focus on the Face - Little to no Background - Props can be used to distinguish person (Hats, scarves, jewelry, clothes, glasses,etc.) - Lighting should be more accented and dramatic - Capture a moment - Should show more emotion

Emotion / Stylized portraits - Directed Pose - Should show something unique - Focus on the body and its interaction with its environment - Background should be strongly considered - Props can be used to distinguish person - Lighting should be more accented and dramatic - Capture a moment - Should be something that goes beyond the conventional portrait
