Attendance and Tardiness School Hours: 7:30 – 2:40 First Bell: 7:20am Tardy Bell: 7:30am Your scholar will be counted tardy if he or she arrives in the classroom after 7:30. Regular attendance is essential for success!

Please leave your scholar at the front Independence We are fostering independence in your scholar. Please leave your scholar at the front door of the school. Your scholar will know his or her way to the to the gym, where to line up and they are capable of being responsible for their things.

Daily Folders Please check for notes, papers, and work every day. The folder needs to be emptied every day. Please check and initial communication chart every day.

Discipline Any discipline issues will be addressed on the Communication Chart located in the daily folder. Please review this with your scholar every day. For severe behavior issues, the office staff will become involved.

Dismissal A written note is required if your scholar is going home in a different manner than usual. In an emergency, please notify the office before 2:00pm that day of the change. Unless told differently by parent or guardian, your scholar’s teacher will follow usual going home procedures.

Dismissal Procedure For your scholar’s safety, we have a dismissal procedure in place. You will be given a detailed letter explaining how this process works. PLEASE be patient! This takes a few weeks for it to run smoothly.

Extra Change of Clothes Please pack an extra “seasonal” change of clothes in a labeled Ziploc bag for emergencies.

7:00 am. Service will stop at Breakfast Breakfast is served at 7:00 am. Service will stop at 7:20 am. The cost is $1.50.

Lunch Lunch cost: $2.40 includes milk Please prepay for your scholar’s lunch on the Wylie ISD website or during “Meet the Teacher”. Lunches may also be paid for by cash or check. Please send all lunch payments in a sealed, labeled envelope with your scholar’s name, teacher’s name, and ID#. The scholars have 30 minutes to eat and a 5 minute “clean-up” time. Parents are always welcome to eat with their scholar!

Medication The nurse will administer any and all medication (this includes cough drops) to children, no exceptions! Original bottle with the prescription affixed to it and directions clearly marked.

Your scholar must stay home for Sick Scholars Your scholar must stay home for at least 24 hours if they have had a fever. If your scholar has been out sick, please provide a note stating they were ill, especially if they went to the doctor. If a scholar is needing to miss PE or Recess, you must provide a note from a doctor stating the reason.

Money in Envelopes Always send money in a sealed, labeled envelope. Include your scholar’s name, amount included, purpose, and ID number when appropriate.

Dress for the Weather We will have outside recess every day weather permitting. We go outside if the temperature is above 40 degrees and below 100 degrees. Please dress your scholar accordingly. Please label all items of clothing with a permanent marker including mittens, scarves, jackets and hats.

Safety Your scholar needs to know his/her full name, parent’s name, address, phone number and how they are getting home. Please practice this each day. This information is vital to their safety on and off campus.

Toys Toys of any kind are not permitted at school unless requested by teacher. This includes electronic games for after school.

Birthdays We happily celebrate and acknowledge birthdays. Due to food allergies and food restrictions, food and/or drinks of any kind are not permitted. You may provide a small treat bag for each student that will be passed out at the end of the day.

Report Cards Parent Teacher Conferences Report cards are sent home every nine weeks. You will receive them via Skyward at the end of each of the nine weeks. Parent Teacher Conferences Parent Teacher Conferences are held once in the fall and again (if necessary) in the spring. They may also be held on an as needed basis.

Assessments Baseline assessments will be given by each teacher within the 1st four weeks of school. State standardized tests in reading and math will be given at the beginning, middle, and end of the year. The beginning of the year results will be shared with the parents at the 1st parent conference.

Parent/Family Access Parent Access is a very important tool that you will need. It allows you to view your scholar’s grades online, fill out all mandatory district paperwork and receive updates from your scholar’s campus. You will need a Login and Password. If you need assistance, Mrs. Walker will be able to help you. **Please make sure you hit “Submit” before exiting the screen.**

Volunteering We love parent helpers! We will send notes letting you know when help will be needed. All parents who help at school or who attend field trips MUST complete a criminal background check. This form is available online. You will also need to sign a Confidentiality Agreement which is also available online.
